13 month old doesn't like table food

I'm still feeding N stage 3 food.  His pedi said by his 15 month appointment she wanted him on table food.  Thing is he won't eat it or if he does it's only a few bites, not enough for a meal. I've been making him

pancakes, waffles, ravioli, veggies (string beans, carrots, etc.), chicken, toast, etc. He doesn't like any of it.  Also, it seems like the only thing he'll self feed himself is cheerios, crackers or goldfish.  Everything else he won't touch or throws it on the floor.  Anyone's 13 month old not eatting table food yet?  Any ideas what I can make for him.

  • Sweet potato fries, bananas, ham and turkey lunch meat, mac and cheese with diced veggies, prunes, cheese, hot dogs and baked beans are my sons favorites.  Maybe give some of those a try?

  • DS has hated food pretty much from the beginning.  I've never been able to get him to eat stage 3 food.  I think he has problems with the texture of things-like the mushy, thick, chunky stuff.  He won't eat things like mashed potatoes.  He has been getting better lately.  I can always get him to eat steamed/roasted broccoli and cauliflower.  He also likes little carrot chunks, any kind of rice, and ground beef.  He doesn't always eat it, but he's getting better.  Have you tried different spices and stuff?  If you try to put the food in his mouth will he eat it?  DS often sticks his tongue out if he doesn't like something I put in his mouth, but I usually have to put it in first before he'll self feed.
  • Olivia was the same way. She started actually eating table food when she started day care at 14 months. I guess she wanted to do what the other kids were doing. She still is picky

  • DS is the same way. He is 14 months now and slowing getting better and better. I try a lot of the same foods you've already mentioned. But two things you didn't mention that he loves to eat himself are cheese and also quesadillas. I usually use whole wheat tortillas and fill them with all kinds of different things, cheese, lunch meat, beans, avocado, salsa, etc... I also agree with pp that sometimes he won't feed himself certain things, but if I feed it to him he is more willing to eat. Just keep trying lots of different things. I know how frustrating it is, but it will get better. GL!

  • I wouldn't worry too much. DS was the same way and then one day he just started eating table food.
