so i've decided that i'd like to finally get a single jogging stroller (used hopefully) for this summer's walks (i walk A LOT). we live in an old neighborhood and the sidewalks and streets are really bumpy and my child just keeps getting heavier and heavier.
anyway, i will not be jogging with it. the front wheel thing kind of confuses me though. if it doesn't swivel isn't that pretty annoying for turns? i guess you have to lift up and pivot for every turn? i suppose it's no biggy after a while. is a front swivel wheel a must in your mind?
just curious what others think about this VERY important matter.
Re: over-thinking the 'front wheel' of jogging strollers....
Even if you were planning on using it for jogging, I'd suggest getting one with a swivel wheel. We lock ours for running, but for just walking around, it would be a pain to try to maneuver it without the swivel wheel.
We have a BOB and have never locked the front wheel. If you're going to be navigating through bumpy streets, I would get one that has a front wheel that swivels.
You may end up locking your front wheel if you live in a bumpy area. That's when you'd want to lock it. Well then and for running.
Most jogging strollers come with the option these days. It's the old ones that only offer the locked front wheel. You'll want a swivel front wheel for trips to the mall, zoos, festivals, etc...
I just got the double with the swivel wheel. I wanted it for the same reasons and the OP. I do not jog, but our sidewalks are horrible. I would say for neighborhood walks the swivel wheel is a must. I was told by the sales man that the Baby Trend with the swivel wheel are not ideal for actual jogging or running. If you want that, you should go with the more expensive styles.
I love the Baby Trend. I would highly recommend it for what you are looking for.
