Waking up at 1:30 am for the day!

Hi ladies, I hardly ever get to post here anymore, but I'm just so frustrated and maybe someone has advice....a couple of times a week now my 17 mos old son wakes up at 1:30 am for the day! I'm losing my mind so tired! WE did ferber last june and it sort of worked, but he still did not sleep throught he night, he's never slept through the night! Anyone do ferber at this age?

    I have no idea what ferber is but my DD woke up at 1:00 and looked like she was ready to go for the day.  She even walked to the pantry and was asking for her breakfast.  But I just think she had a bad dream or something.

    Sorry you're having to deal with this regularly:/

    I just gave her some warm milk in her cup and let her snuggle with me on the couch while I was watching one of my shows and she seemed to get bored and didn't mind going back to bed.

    I've had those nights/days too. THey stink. I put the girls in the swing in my room (yes, I still have 1) and put on the tv. Hope its better tonight

    DS often wakes in the middle of the night and seems wide awake - he plays and babbles in his crib for at least an hour before going back to sleep.  Have you tried books or a few toys in his crib to entertain him if this happens, so that you can keep sleeping.  I'm sure that he's still tired and will eventually go back to sleep.

    When he wakes up, how long do you leave him alone to try and resettle himself?

    DS went through a stage where he was waking before 5 am for the day.  If we left him alone, he usually fell back asleep in a few minutes.  And it gets progressively better, to the point when he wakes now, he doesn't fuss at all, he just rolls over and goes back to sleep.  I also think that he sleeps much better when we keep a good schedule in terms of nap and when he goes to bed.

    We never officially did Ferber but we did let him CIO to get him to the sleep habits that he has now.  I think that Ferber, CIO, or something along those lines may be the way for you to go.  He probably will continue to wake and expect you to come and get him whenever he wants unless you change something up.
