I really wanted a unique name and a biblical name, Uriah Michael means "God is my Light" and he definitely is, the foundation of our lives!! I love it and thankfully my husband loves it too! My husband's MN is Michael!! What do you think?
If we're having a girl we are definitely going with my mother's name Rose for the MN. What names to you like with Rose.
1. Celia Rose
2. Layla Rose
3. Isbella Rose
Any other suggestions would be great for a girl!
Re: What do you think of Uriah Michael?
I think Uriah Heep (the band), and then Uriah Heep (the character in David Copperfield). It's certaily unique, but it's NMS.
Celia, Layla and Isabella are beautiful! Isabella is a bit popular for me, but still a gorgeous name.
Do you only want the boy name to be biblical?
Yes I really do, I also want the girl name as well but I'm not finding too many that I like that are unique!
It surprises me how many people compare the name Uriah with Charles Dickens' book David Copperfield over Uriah from the Bible!!
Your girl names are cute. I think I like Celia best. It is the least popular one, but very elegant. I'm not a fan of Uriah. It makes me think of Urine, Urea, Ureters...but maybe that's because I'm in the medical profesion! I like the meaning, though.
What about Elijah (the Lord is my God) Michael
Gabriel (God is my strength) Michael nn Gabe
Joshua (God is Salvation) Michael

Uriah may have been an honorable man, but in these times a Uriah will get his butt kicked in the playground.
Sorry! Are you open to other biblical name suggestions? I'd open the book and look at passages of geneology (eg. Amos begat Jamal who begat . . . ). There are oodles of names in there.
Ditto. I think Celia is beautiful. I'm in med school and tonight I've been studying renal physiology so also anything urine related came to mind when I saw Uriah.
So sorry, but this.
I'm not religious but I love Dickens, so I thought of the David Copperfield character. I think you should seriously reconsider that name.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

me too!
I think this is a terrible thing to do to your child despite it's beautiful meaning. Kids are cruel and this will be at the top of the list for teasing and tormenting. Your girl names are lovely.

I don't take one single minute for granted.
Uriah = Urea therefore
But your girls names are all beautiful.
I agree with this and I like these suggestions. One question, is it Isbella or Isabella? I think Isbella would spend a lot of her life having her name misspelled or misspronounced. I'd go with Isabella over Isbella. But Celia is my favorite, with Layla second, and Isabella third.
I too thought of urine or urethra. I think it's horrible.
Michael is nice, as are all of your girl names.
Yup, all of the above. Sorry!
Uriah makes me think of urine. Sorry.
But I love Celia!

I LOVE Layla, it would be on our list except my cousin has one already.
I agree with the Urea/Urine comments - that was my first thought too. He will be taunted on the playground for sure. I love Michael, Miguel is actually our current chosen mn, because I love Michael and DH is Latino so we decided to celebrate his heritage.

I was thinking the same thing...sorry. If you like it, then you do. But think of what naming your child a "unique name" could do to him too. I say this not to be snarky or mean, but just by watching the kids in the playground and school these days. It's heartbreaking to watch a kid get picked on even when it's not your own kid.
Me too. I recognize it as a biblical name, but I thought of urethra when I read it in the Bible too.
Thank you for all the comments! I definitely don't want a common name which is just one of the reasons why I love Uriah. I'm not afraid of my child being teased at the play ground or school. Kids are kids and they tease for just about anything and everything. I was teased for having long hair as a kid, girls were just jealous but unfortunately I too was one of those kids who teased others. It's just something kids do. I know so many people who were teased for their name but they grow out of it and grow up! My child will have enough confidence, self esteem and respect for himself to not let it get to him or both him.
My husband and I have agreed on the name if it's a boy and we're happy with it! As far as girls name are, we are either going with Layla Rose or Celia Rose!
Thanks again!
You have no idea if this is going to be the case for your child, just as I have no idea if my child will be that confident. This isn't a name like Mary, where she would get the popular nursery rhyme...this is a little boy who is going get called urine, which will most likely lead to p!ss. We cannot control the personalities of our children, nor how they will react in these situations. I am sure the parents in Massachusetts who just lost their daughter to suicide from extensive bullying didn't think their daughter was going to hang herself. I just think you are setting your child up for failure and cannot imagine being that insensitive to a situation such as teasing and bullying. I just hope you have a girl.
This!
