Stains :(

I just washed my 1st load of dirty BG 3.0s & some of my formerly pristine dipes came out w/poo stains.

I thought NB poo just came out in the wash, so I didn't individually pre-scrub them before washing.  I did a cold wash, then a hot wash w/rockin green detergent.

Am I doing something wrong, or are stains inevitable?

Re: Stains :(

  • IMO stains are inevitable, but sunning them can help, and if you are desperate, of course bleach will get almost any poo stain out.

I just generally don't worry about it.  It's a diaper.  If the stains come out while on the line, great, if they don't, oh well.

  • Put them out in the sun wet, and the stains will disappear!

    THIS!!!

I actually had our first poo stains this past week and was able to hang them. They all came out! I was SO impressed, and finally realized these women weren't kidding when they said sun them. Smile

  • Ditto on the sunning- it's magic.

Also an oxyclean (or OXObrite) soak can help too.

  • It is sort of a fact of life that poop stains. Your diapers are clean and all the ick is out, they are just stained.

You can sun them (damp, out of the washer), and you will be amazed at how clean they are.

  • Yep, sun them. I do that even on days like today where it is pouring rain and hail all day. I just lay them in front of a window and by the end of the day the stains are gone.
  • Even if you don't sun them, just with regular use and multiple washings the stains will go away. After 18mo+ of use with DD, none of the diapers had permanent stains that didn't come out in the sun... and few even needed sunning. Nothing is ruined.
