Head Bonks

How hard is too hard? DH had DS sitting on the table, he was holding him and talking to him but DS got excited and flung back. He hit his head really hard on the table and the handle part of a pair of scissors. He does have a bump, we did an ice pack and I nursed him a while but he seems upset still. So, how hard is too hard and an indicator to get him seen by a Dr?
