Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

M/s after strong heart rate at 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 weeks

Devasted after m/s our baby (first pregnancy) at 8 weeks. Trying to find answers among millions of questions that pop through my mind. We had been ttc for 3 1/2 years when we found out we were pregnant a month ago. Totally caught by surprise, extremely happy, told our family and close friends after we saw a strong heart rate (125) at 6 1/2 weeks. At 7 weeks I started spotting very lightly, doctor said it's common, not to worry unless it gets red and/or I get crampy. Worried, I went for a u/s at 7 1/2 weeks and continued to see an even stronger heart rate of 162 and the baby was double in size from a week ago. Couldn't be happier and more optimistic since the baby was growing fine. Until two days later when I started to cramp pretty strong, like bad menstrual cramping, and my spotting went from very light, almost discolored brown/pink to dark brown, still very minimal in quantity. Went to the doctor at 8 weeks to find the baby had no heart beat. Most likely it passed away soon after my last sono at 7 1/2 weeks.  I was scheduled for a D&C on Monday, but I m/s naturally over the weekend - lots of pain, but I am glad I expelled all the tissue on my own rather than having to go through surgery. I am now optimistic for the future and try to think positive. At least I know I can get pregnant and will try again as soon as my first cycle comes.

  • I'm sorry for your loss. I think it's even harder losing a baby when you have tried so hard to have one. My DH and I tried for 5 years and went thru alot of fertility meds to concieve our triplets, than lost one in Jan, and than our twins born at 23 weeks was the worst day of my life.

Cry cry cry is all I can say lean on your DH, as mine has been my rock and I have no idea what I'd do without him.

  • Sending hugs, so sorry for your loss.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I had my miscarriage naturally at 8 weeks and we had seen a strong heartbeat at 6 weeks. It is so hard seeing your healthy baby and then losing it in such a short period of time.

  • I'm so very sorry for your loss.  Trying for so long seems to rub salt in the wound, from what I've found.

We TTC'd for a long time and finally I underwent 2 IVF's to get pregnant.  My ultrasounds looked great with strong heartbeats, then at 8 weeks we discovered that our embryo had split into 2 babies, and we were expecting identical twins.  Both had great heartbeats.  I had another u/s at 9.5 weeks... both babies looked great.  Then at 11 weeks we discovered that they had passed away less than a week earlier.... no heartbeats for either baby.

It's devastating, I know.  Especially when you see that heartbeat and you're reassured that everything is ok....  it's so unfair to have it ripped away like that.  My heart goes out to you.  Hugs.
