so this is the bedding we have for DS big boy room. i LOVE it and want to do sort of a vintagey transportation theme in his room. i plan to get some big prints of vintage signs etc, and a bright colored coordinating area rug for the floor, but i am not sure what to do with painting the walls.
i was kind of thinking stripes of some sort on the bottom and a plain color on top with a chair rail in the middle. but i am not at all decided and i totally suck at knowing what might look good. i was also thinking to maybe do gray walls since the prints will most likely be bright. but i don't know!
any ideas?
Re: need help with decorating DS big boy room
Is there already a chair rail in the room?
If not, I would skip it. The bedding is rather modern looking and has nice clean lines. You can go "vintage" but I wouldn't go too old school given the modernity of the bedding. Like you could go atomic/mid-century modern, sort of retro-vintage/modern vintage, but not antique if that makes sense.
I would probably play up the whole box/square element thing that is going on and do a series of square wall hangings- either 3 or 5 of them- and have them or the mats of them be the colors in the bedspread. (Orange, gray, green, choc. brown and 2 blues, so 6 colors there.) If you want to do a paint color I would pick one of the colors in the bedding and take it from there.
Cute bedding. We are going to do a similar theme with Caleb's big boy room. I haven't bought anything yet. My brother used to collect license plates and I am going to use those to hang on the wall. I also have a real stop sign that my dad found.
I love he green and orange. I think those plus navy will be the main colors in Caleb's room. I say skip the chair rail. I think it might look too formal. I am looking forward to doing Ds's room we just need to get started with it.
