Cry it out...

NOT YET... LOL but when our lo's are of the age how many of you are planning on doing this? How many of you already mom have done it? What was your experience? And at what age are you planning on it with this lo?

 TIA

Re: Cry it out...

  • Right now my attitude is that I won't let him CIO no matter how old he is. But, in reality....I will just wait and see how things go. If I feel like we need to just get everyone some sleep, I'm open to trying it.

  • When it comes to parenting, I'm ridiculously open-minded about pretty much everything. If we don't have to use it then awesome, but I can imagine that it just may be a solution to an issue every once in a while.
  • I did Ferber when my DD was 9 or 10 months old. It was perfect timing because she was getting too big to rock to sleep. I'll do it at the same age this time around, and I'll take the paci away at the same time, to make it easier. We took it away from my DD at a year and I wished I had done it at the same time we Ferberized.

  • We did it at 6 months with DS #1.  He was never a good sleeper but at 5-ish months he was suddenly wakng up every 2 hours and needing to be rocked backed to sleep.  I had said I would never CIO but something had to give.  It took 2 nights and he's been STTN ever since.

Depending on how good of a sleeper #2 is, we will do it again.  I would never do it before 5-6 months, though.

  • Our LO has always been an independent sleeper. I put her in her cot with her dummy and she's out for the count. She only wakes if she has wind and needs burping which is an easy solve, or for hunger.

I am hoping and praying that beyond illness, teething etc that she keeps this up.
