Oh yeah, I had an appointment!

It was fine.

I thought that DH was going to either pass out our vomit when he realized that the doc was going to do a pap smear with him in the room. He asked if I wanted to hold his hand, and was really relieved when I said no.

And then, after it was over, he asked me when they were going to do it.

The doc is fabulous. An odd person, but a very good match for us. He's very committed to his private practice and lots of individual attention, and is really accustomed to people with our insurance, which means we don't have to worry about a lot of confusion or different stories from different people.

We'll go back in two weeks for an ultrasound to make sure that there's a heartbeat and everything looks good, but as of now "your hips and pelvis are broad enough" (like I haven't been hearing that since I was 16!) and the size of my uterus is right in line with my dates.

Not thrilling, but that's the update!

You, and those who agree with this, are quite smart.

    Hmm
Who says that? Unless you're a 12 year old girl, I'd say any woman is equipped for birth. Sorry, that just would have rubbed me the wrong way (er...I guess it DOES rub me the wrong way).

  • I was just wondering how it went - good to hear it was uneventful - and I have to chuckle at your DH.  Can we please get a photo of his face when he sees the wand for the internal u/s?  Puh-leeeeeze????

is it because he's male? My midwife told me a couple months back that my hips were wide for someone my size. I didn't see it as a bad thing at all. I've been told that all my life but I know it's those wide hips that allowed me to birth Seth vaginally in his big boy, OP, hand-by-head state! Anyway... Glad the appt went well! Boring is good, I agree :)
  • *giggle*

i'm glad it was a nice quiet appt but i totally hear you on the dh reaction to the pap part.  i meant to comment in your post yesterday about how they might do a pap then - i hope someone else did.  but yeah - my dh was like uhhhhhhhh...  hilarous that yours didn't even realize when it was done.  lol.

but hooray for being past your first appt!

  • Good to hear that it went well.  At my first appointment the doctor offered to let DH wait outside and he was just like "umm the birth is going to be a lot worse than this, right?"  And the doctor just laughed and said "that's what I think to myself whenever the husbands decide to leave for the pap" LOL
