My turn: Pls rec your Disneyland hotel!

We're planning a trip for next month.  We aren't going to stay in a resort hotel (I wish!) but would like to be walking distance from the park entrance.  I know a lot of you have done this, so please tell us where to stay!

The only dealbreakers are it has to be walking distance and have a swimming pool.  We would also love the following (but could live without them for the right place):  in-room fridge/microwave, breakfast included, view of the park (for fireworks).  And of course we are on a budget, so the price is important, too.

Thank you!!

Re: My turn: Pls rec your Disneyland hotel!

  • We're going in July and staying at the Staybridge Suites Hotel.  It isn't really walking distance (1 mile away) but we booked through AAA and got free parking, the AAA Blue Diamond Card (gets us discounts on food and shopping in Downtown Disney) plus we were able to take advantage of their deal and get two free nights plus a five day park hopper for the price of three.  We've got a studio room with a queen bed, a flip out sofa bed, a small kitchen with a full sized fridge, microwave, two-burner stove, dishwasher, etc plus free buffet breakfasts available each morning and there is a huge pool.

ETA: We were able to get our room for a couple hundred dollars less than the rooms right across the street (or even down the street) because of the promotion they were running,  As far as the distance is concerned, what I usually do is have my husband drop me and the kiddo off at the 15 minute parking in front of the park then he parks the car and takes the tram over from the parking structure.  It is a lot easier for one person to hop onto the tram than it is for three people with all of their gear and a stroller, especially since there are only so many spots that a stroller will fit into on the tram.

  • We went a year ago, and stayed at the Candy Cane Inn. I had heard good things about it in the past, so we decided to give it a try. We'll definintely go back! It's on the same side of the street as the park. You can definitely walk to the park, or they have a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes (I think) that will take you there and back. Our room came with breakfast, and I think it had a fridge and microwave. And there was a pool. The place was clean, and the staff was super friendly! One day we had hoped on the shuttle, and the hotel manager stepped on to talk to the driver. He greeted us, and asked us a few questions. He found out we were recently married, and asked us what room we were staying in. When we returned, there was a rose, a mini bottle of champagne, and fresh baked cookies waiting for us in our room. Smile

  • The Holiday Inn Express on Katella... full breakfast in the morning, 3 block walk to the park, a 7-11 around the corner for snacks and I think we paid $120 a night or something.
  • Howard Johnson!!  Get the Disney View rooms.  I've stayed there several times and they have both a pool and water area for the kids!  All my friends love staying there too.

  • We're going next month also!  We're staying at Fairfield Inn across the street so it is walking distance.  There is no breakfast though :(  We're paying $109 a night and they do have rooms where you can watch the fireworks.  They also have a pool and mini fridge in the rooms.  And a microwave on the 4th floor where their is a pizza hut/deli.
  • I remember hearing some of a DL resorts special/package deals that is currently running. You have to book and actually go on vacation by the end of April. I know that it still might be too expensive but it might be worth looking into it. GL and have FUN planning!! :)

  • Thanks everyone!  I am getting so excited, and DH just confirmed he got the time off so we are good to go!  I'll check all of these out (as well as the one Rox recommended) and hopefully get it booked by tomorrow.

     Yay!

  • We always stay at the Best Western Park Place Inn and Minisuites.  It has everything you are looking for, except for the view of the park, but you could probably walk to the front of the hotel and see the fireworks.

Call to get the best rate.

ditto this. We stayed here, and the crosswalk in front of the hotel leads to the park entrance. It's right across the street. We had a great time and did watch the fireworks from in front of the hotel.

  • Thanks everyone!  Park Place was the winner (Rox recommended it as well) and did you know that you can reserve Best Western hotels through Costco?  Cut the price from 109/night (online best price) to only $87.20 per night.  Done!

I don't know who is more excited about this trip - me or my girl!

    Appreciate the help ladies.

I totally recommend that hotel as well! Have a great time!

  • You'll be happy with the Best Western Park Place Inn! We've been there twice now and have reservations for this coming October as well. Have fun!
