Success after IF

Update on betas from today.

So the RE called. My hcg was 2253 and my progestrone was 70. Beta #1 was 179 and 109(progest). So obviously doubling nicely. Why my progesterone  bottomed out I dont know. When I asked she didnt seem to acknowledge it. She said for my levels being so high and to only be seeing a very small sac that I should go ahead a prepare myself for a bad outcome. Another ectopic. That what we could be seeing is a pseudosac. I will be going in for another ultrasound on Thursday morning. I just dont understand. Please pray for me.
I do not get this at all.

Re: Update on betas from today.

  • I am sorry but I don't understand why they are stressing you. A 70 on progesterone is not "bottoming out". Even with PIO my progesterone never made it above 30!! Usually you don't see much until your HcG reaches 10,000. I Hope that they are wrong and try not to stress too much about it. (I know it is hard).

If they saw a sac (possibly two) in your uterus this morning how is a nurse stating this will be ectopic?  That makes no sense.

FWIW, my progesterone was very high (over 100) and dropped to the 70s or 80s for a few days, then went back up.  Per my RE, progesterone fluctuates on a daily basis - it just needs to stay above a certain point.

I'm sorry you are possible going through this but, I think you are putting the cart before the horse right now.

  • progesterone goes up and down and yours is super high because of your IUI.  congrats!
  • Also, any progesterone level over 20 is considered great and you are way above that.

  • Your progesterone in no way bottomed out. It is still pretty stinkin high! It can bounce around a bit like that. A drop like that when it was in the 100s is not as bad as if it dropped 30  when your original # was 40 kwim?

It may just be too early to see much. I would not prepare for the worst yet .

  • They are being completely ridiculous!  The very earliest I was told you can see a sac is at 1500 which is right around where you are today.  My progesterone never got anywhere near 30, let alone in the 70s and as pp said your prog fluctates on a daily basis.  Why they would even throw the word eptopic around when they saw a sac in your uterus today is above and beyond me.

I am sorry they are stressing you, try and relax if you can until you go in again next Monday.

Im just repeating exactly what they told me. They explained a pseudosac too me and that it is seen a lot in ectopic pregnancies. I think they are going on my history.  Either way I am now gonna be in a state of panic until Thursday.

  • This RE's office is based in Birmingham and I am in Huntsville.I go to the local office even though my RE is in Bham. This was the phone call from the nurse practioner. I am about to call down there and demand to talk to someone else. This is also the lady that CONVINCED me I would be in ohss. Which I was not.

  • I agree with the others.  What they're telling you makes no sense.  If they saw a sac and your hcg and p4 levels are good (and they are), I wouldn't worry too much.  Your u/s was early and A LOT can change in a week.

  • I agree with everyone else. Your progesterone is still good. That nurse sounds like she has zero idea of what she is talking about. My progesterone with a beta of 1337 was just over 50.

I hope you find someone else to explain things better!!

    this.

  • I'm so sorry she made you upset but I agree that she may be making you worry for no reason. 109 to 70 sounds like a normal fluctuation in progesterone to me and 70 is still very high (mine dropped from 30something to 16, then went back up, and everything was fine).

I hope your u/s on Thursday gives you some better news. Until then, please don't lose hope. Your nurse sounds like she's very pessimistic.

  • I'm going to echo all the other pps.  This makes no sense to me.  This ultrasound was SUPER early.  Most Dr's won't even do an ultrasound until after 6 weeks...some won't even do one until 7 weeks, just to avoid the issue you are having right now.

Please don't let them stress you out too much.  This could still turn out to be a viable,  uterine pregnancy.

Keep the faith...and don't get into panic mode yet.

    (((Hugs)))
