NBR- How can you fill such a big/nice house with so much ugly?

So I drive past this house on the way to work sometimes..Its something historic..and its nice looking on the outside.. and huge.. so I just looked up the listing.

Even if I HAD $370K I wouldn't touch that house because the thought of ripping down all that wallpaper makes me want to vomit.. And there is just so much clutter and UGLY everywhere!

  • It looks like an antiques museum....Ugh. I love it from the outside, btut he wall paper would have to go!

  • Holy Clutter!!!  And that wallpaper- GAG!  After ripping down wallpaper when we bought our house I vowed to never put it up in any home I own.
  • it amazes me that people put their houses on the market looking the way they do. That house is over.the.top. cluttered... and I'm sure w/ some staging it would be beautiful, but looking at it as is makes my head hurt!
  • Holy fake flowers!

And the rifle over the fireplace kind of gives me the heebie jeebies.

  • I was gonna say that too - the rifle is a nice touch in trying to sell your home.
  • This reminds me a lot of the house we bought in November in Orchard Park!  I wondered what the heck we were doing.....but if you looked past the other people's awful taste and clutter there was amazing potential.  After having 4 full time professional painters at our house for a month (removing loads of wallpaper and painting ALL of the trim/built ins back to white from a horrible teal color) our house is gorgeous.  It was hard to imagine when we walked through.  I remember being so disappointed because from the street it was "the house" I had always wanted and it was on "the perfect street" right in the village.  With a little TLC and some extra cash we turned it into our forever home.  The best part is that it is probably better than I could have imagined because it is all newly done and done exactly to my taste.

With that said...they will never get $370,000 for that house.

  • Holy Clutter!  And that carpet?! when was that ever a good idea for a color?
  • Well, at least I wouldn't be the one dealing with all that furniture.

What's truly horrible is that the wallpaper may be on plaster walls, which would be a total (*#&$! to get off. Would probably have to gut every room.

So sad. The place could be gorgeous, and the rooms are huge!
