Success after IF

Sad - we made the easter bunny cry

My work does Easter and Christmas parties for the kids of the community. Every year a co worker of mine volunteers to dress up as santa or the bunny. His back story: He married his HS sweetheart and at a very young age she needed an emergency hysterctomy. So they have been married child free for 20 years now.

So yesterday was the party and I took Dillon to meet the bunny for the first time - my first time seeing the bunny in action. The kids love the bunny, he dances and plays with them and he has a great time. He is SO good with kids.

So at the end of the party one little girl says "I love you Easter bunny" and then all the kids chime in with "we love you"... the easter bunny waves good bye and goes into the office to take his head off. He was filled with tears... just so sad! I wanted to give him a big hug.

It is not fair, any child would have been so fortunate to have him as a dad.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • How sad but it is great what he does to make children happy.

  • OMG that is so sad!! I hope they can find another way to have a family??

There is the sweetest nurse at Jasper's pediatric GI's office that weighs him in when we go and does the intake etc.. she LOVES kids and has some severe IF issues. It makes me want to cry for her every time we visit. I seriously would have to choose a profession where I never saw kids!

  • Now you're makin' me cry.  How so very nice of him to do that.

  • They were saving for adoption about 8 years ago. Then his wife got laid off from her job. She was out of work for close to a year, eating up a lot of the savings. She had to take a huge pay cut at her next job and they gave up on the dream. I have not heard of them pursuing anything else since.

He says he loves seeing all the kids smile and it is worth the few hours he gets to spend with them. Such a good guy, IF sucks!

  • Man, I was sure this was going to be an hysterical story about peeing on his lap at the mall or something.

I wish I hadn't read it.  That's just too sad for words.  Poor guy.  Ugh.  I'm not going to get that one out of my head for years ...
