Wetting flannel wipes

We just registered for cloth diapers after visiting our local cloth diapering guru (we chose Fuzzi Bunz one-size).  We also registered for flannel wipes, but I'm only just now realizing that we'll have to use some kind of solution for wetting them.  I was wondering if you could help me with some of these questions:

1.  Could we just use water to wet the wipes?

2.  If not, what solution do you recommend?  I saw some recipes online to make the solution yourself, and it seems more economical than, say, the bumgenius solution.

3.  How do you keep wipes moistened?  Do you use a spray bottle on the wipe?  Just dip them in the solution?  Or do you use an electric wipe warmer?  Which of these is easiest?

Thank you for any help!

Re: Wetting flannel wipes

  • We use my peri bottle from the hospital and plain water!  LOL
  • Loading the player...
  • We just put water in a spray bottle and wet the wipes each change as needed.
  • I used to put the wipes in an old pampers wipes container and wet them all at once but found they started to smell before I reached the bottom so I started using a squirt bottle (small empty bottle from dish soap) with water and BabyBits.  I am not a HUGE fan of the babybits though and will probably start making my own once they run out just from some babywash and a tad bit of baby oil.

  • I just use plain water, and I actually just grab a wipe and wet it in the bathroom (either put DS down in pnp or crib first or just bring him with me - he is fascinated by running water).
  • Thank you!  It sounds like we won't need a wipe warmer, at least.  And I'm glad I could just use water, or just a little bit of soap if needed.

  • Good question...I was just wondering this myself last night. I think we'll give the squirt bottle idea a go first. ;)
