Diaper rash already?

We have been doing cloth since he was born with no problems. But a few days ago he got this red angry looking rash right around his anus. Nowhere else, just right around the anus. I have been using Method diaper cream on it but its not really getting better.

My mom is an OB nurse and she assures me its not an allergy to the formula we are supplementing with. What can I do for him, I know it hurts him terribly?

Maybe try a different cream? Seth got a rash at about the same age for the first time and he's been rash-prone ever since. He also has eczema, so I think he just has sensitive skin. Your little guy may be the same way. I have to be SUPER on top of it to change Seth RIGHT after he poops or, literally, it will eat his skin away (it is very common for Seth to get spots that bleed from a rash, poor kid).

Anyway, the only cream I've tried that works well on Seth is Desitin Original. I do not like that it has parabens, but I'd rather that than have him uncomfortable and rashy all the time.

The same thing happened with DS. I use burt's bees and slathered it on. Also, if you can keep the house warmer, naked time would be good but fitteds and wool will help too, to promote circulation.

Can do on the fitteds and wool. That is what he is in most of the time, a Kissaluv and a wool cover. I may get both of those creams to try.

My LO got a red chapped area around his bottom for a long time and I tried everything. It turns out it was just very sensitive skin because he was pooping so much. The pedi confirmed this and we have been using a tiny drop of CA Baby Super Sensitive lotion after each change. His bottom has been perfect for 6 weeks now!
