  • I have so far, but I have cut DH's hair for years now.  I'm not a stylist by any means, but he doesn't look to shabby, yet.

  • DH cuts J's hair b/c it is thick & we like to keep it super short.  For C, it requires a bit more styling/cutting know how since his hair is fine and we keep it a bit longer. It also sometimes takes both of us to hold him down, so easier for a third party to do the cutting.  ;)

  • My DH cuts his own hair.  My mom used to cut my hair when I was little and cut my brothers' hair until their wives told them they were too old, but I won't be cutting either my own hair or DD's hair, or let DH do it.

  • I cut DH's & DD's.  I have cut my own before.  It's straight and boring, so you can't really mess it up.

  • I would not cut DD's hair. I am to askeered. I would let my mom do it, however. She is a cosmetologist, though.
  • We do Bruce's hair ourselves... no point paying 20+ to someone to buzz his head for us or trim around his ears. Plus, he just screams the whole time someone else does it but is fine for us.

I need to learn to cut hair properly so I could do DH's...

  • i cut DH's but i'm too afraid to cut DS b/c he doesn't sit still and he screams the whole time.  i don't want to accidentally cut him.
  • My mom cut my hair when I was a kid.

Every school picture I have crooked bangs.  She even bought a book on how to cut hair and got mini-lessons from her hairdresser friend.

I say I will cut DD's hair (once she gets some), but I don't know if I really will once it's in and thick.  I don't want her to have to go through what I did.  Maybe DH will be better at hair cutting than my mom was (and I fear I will be).

  • We will cut DS' hair if we decide to do a short cut for him but anything styled will be done by the hair stylist...too many bad experiences being on the receiving end of a mom cut in my childhood!

  • I went juicy toots because I do cut dh's hair with some clippers that he bought and it honestly turns out just as well as it did when he went to the stylists. I, however, WILL NOT touch Noel's hair. He HATES getting his hair cut and we have actually had to physically hold him down in the chair while they're cutting it to keep him from getting inadvertently stabbed or having an ear lopped off. Dh has said several times that I should just cut Noel's hair after I'm done with his and I pretty much look at him like he has 6 heads.

I also wouldn't even think of doing it with a long haired child. Short kids cuts can be easy to imitate if the kid is willing but long haired cuts require more skill to really look right imo.

  • I said no b/c I can't cut in a straight line. I don't trust myself to cut hair to make it look good. Even DH gets his hair cut from a barber b/c he doesn't trust me to do it. THe few times I did cut his hair it was awful.
  • Hell yeah I'm going to cut DS's hair. I'm not about to pay $10+ for someone to do something I can do myself with much the same result. DH cuts his own hair too (uses a trimmer with a guard) because it would be stupid to have someone do the same thing but charge him $17.

I do have mine cut professionally, but I have very short, wavy hair and it is not to be trusted to amateur hands. If it was longer I would probably trim it myself, provided it didn't have layers.

  • I cut DS's now (only twice so far) but I'm not sure how long I'll keep doing it.  For now it's easy - I do it right out of the bath when it's wet and just cut straight across the back, over each ear, and a little across the front.

  • I used to cut DH's, but now he shaves his head.  I cut Xavian's w/ clippers, & I trim Korra's hair most of the time.

My local BFF cuts Saxton's hair.

  • We cut DD's hair.  Not to save money, but because we know she won't sit for anyone else.  However, she is now getting old enough and her hair long enough that we will be taking her to a hairdresser for the next cut.  We will probably have DH do DS's hair with the clippers when he is older.

  • DH cuts his and Ethan's hair.  The girls have no hair and I trim my own :)  If I ever really cut it I'll go to a pro.
