First time mom/laundry

Figured I would ask this on here...when you were washing all of baby's clothes pre-arrival did you separate them according to color or does it matter with baby clothes? I'm sorry if it sounds silly..most of her clothes are pink anyways lol but I figured I'd ask to make sure I could throw them all in together...and did you set the load on cottons or delicates? One last thing did you wash everything{towels, hats, socks, blankets etc}

Re: First time mom/laundry

  • I put everything together.

  • I wondered this too and my mom said just to throw it all in together so that is what I've always done and it's turned out just fine. I just set it on whatever we have it set on, which I think is cottons. I washed clothes, socks, hats, towels, and blankets.
  • I wash all of her stuff together...she has a few black and dark brown sleepers that I leave out and wash with my sons darks. I haven't had a problem with anything running yet~ I wash her dresses seperate and on delicate.

    The cutest part about having a little girl....your dryer lint will be pink.it puts a little smile on my face everytime I empty it:)

  • I did seperate darks/colors and lights/whites when I washed stuff for the first time. Now everything goes in together unless it is something special (i.e. easter dress). I wash everything on delicate, cold, with All free and clear. Yes. I washed EVERYTHING including all the padding from the car seat. Mostly because I have very sensitive skin and figured there was a good chance that DD would too.

    I washed almost everything together (washed reds & maroons separately), in hot water, but only the current size.  I use hot when I'm washing new things, or things that have been pooped or peed on.  I want any little nasties killed in the wash.

  • I did and still do wash his whites with our whites (so regular wash, warm/hot water) and his colors and darks with our colors and darks (reg. wash, cold water). I wash EVERYTHING. The only thing that I don't follow the above on is recieving blankets - even the colored ones go with the whites bc they ruin my Lululemon pants and hubby's shirts (they pill a lot).

  • I have always put everything together in the same wash.

    When I had my first baby my mom told me to keep her clothes seperate from ours because it makes it easier to organize. She was right.

  • I separated lights and darks for the first wash, now I throw it all together.
  • From the beginning I have washed all clothes, towels, receiving blankets, socks, mitts together at once, cold, on delicate. I washed the napper for her PNP seperatately, and a couple heavier blankets seperately because they had really dark colors.

  • I also put everything together, and I washed on delicate.
