Success after IF

Has anyone had their AMH tested?

Mine came back at a low .17.

It makes me wonder if in fact my issues have been egg quality all along, and not polyp related.  Indeed my RE has been attributing my issues to egg quality problems, and I talked to the other RE this morning who both did my SHG and will be removing my polyp tomorrow (my RE is OOT) and *she* doesn't think the polyp is an issue either.  So neither think I need to get it out yet, so of course yet again I'm beating myself up about going through this tomorrow (I hate anesthesia) and paying $$$ for it if the experts say there's no need.

At the same time, I know all of you have expert REs as well who think polyps need to come out, and my own thinking is that with crappy eggs, having any obstacles out of the way is impt.  I just couldn't help but think that my c/ps, especially the 2nd one, were polyp related, which is why I was willing to suck it up tomorrow.

All other b/w, including repeat FSH (6.19) was good.  We counted 4 antral follies on one side and none on the other...SO different than 3-4 years ago when I had textbook PCOS ovaries.

I'll be paying $2000+ tomorrow not to have to go through another 2 weeks like these last 2 weeks when my spotting first started...so many questions since then, back and forth, back and forth.  At this point I want the b!tch out of there just so I don't have to think about her any more. :(

I'm sorry for having been so negative in my posts these last couple of weeks.  Love ya gals.

My RE does not equal low AMH to poor egg quality - he sees the test as a way to judge egg quantity and possible response.

Mine was low - and got lower before IVF #2 which made perfect sense with my less than ideal egg numbers at ER.  However, we still made great quality blasts!

I'm sorry you are dealing with all of this - it totally sucks to hear you are dealing with something else on top of what you thought you were initially dealing with.

  • I thought AMH was in relation to ovarian reserve and not egg quality.  My AMH was 0.4 before my IVF cycle.  I also had 2 or 3 polyps I had removed right before it.  DS was the first pregnancy I had.  My FSH was always normal.  I had 4 eggs retrieved during IVF and all 4 were great quality and fertilized with ICSI, 2 made it to blastocyst while the other 2 made it to day 4.

I definitely think you're doing the right thing getting the polyp removed.  This surgery is very easy and very quick so you won't be under anesthesia long.  And I think it's more like twilight stuff than full anesthesia if that makes you feel better.  I hope it goes well tomorrow!  What you're doing can only help so might as well get it out of there and see what happens.  Good luck!!

  • Thanks, gals.  And yes, it's a test of egg reserve, and potential to respond well to stims during IVF, but the closest thing we have to look at egg quality, which is what my RE focused on when we spoke a couple weeks ago.  We've known about the polyp since Thanksgiving, but he doesn't think that's been an issue.

And yes, she said it's twilight sedation, but I still hate that stuff, LOL.  I'll be getting local anesthesia too, and I wish I could just get that!

We'll most definitely be getting more aggressive next cycle if this cycle doesn't work, so we could have stuck with Plan A to have it removed next cycle which is how we had left it last week.  But oh well, I want the devil out of me at this point!  I still wonder though.

  • I did.  It was 9.02 which is in line with PCOS and my crazy response to stims.  Nothing was ever mentioned about quality; just reserves.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
