New to CDing (LOVE it!) - Night time question

So after posting on here a few weeks ago about wanting to try cloth diapers and getting some really helpful advice, we ordered the trial from Jillian's Drawers.

The BG 3.0 one size pockets (double stuffed) are currently keeping LO dry through the night!  (Something every sposie we tried failed to do!)

That being said, he's not even 4 months old and the suffing is pretty much saturated in the morning.  As he grows I'm expecting to need more absorbency.  How do you stuff your pockets to keep LO dry through the night?  (Or, if you don't use pockets, what do you use?)

Thanks ladies!  I'm so psyched to be getting all those chemicals away from LO's bum!!!

Re: New to CDing (LOVE it!) - Night time question

  • We've struggled with overnight CDs. We use BG pockets thru the day with no problems - but only up to 3-4 hours (and then double stuffed). W is 21 months though, so keep that in mind...

For a while (up to around 12 months?) we used either hemp or bamboo fitteds, stuffed with an extra MF insert or two. (It's what we had on hand.) He outgrew those and I couldn't stuff them enough to last thru the night, or find anything big enough for him, or actually get enough boosters in them to last the night without bursting out of his PJs. So we were using eco sposies for a while until I finally decided to bite the bullet and our new nighttime CD (which works great) is a toddler sized PF, stuffed with 2 small MF inserts and a hemp insert. (If I had a bigger hemp insert, I'd use that, but I don't, and I'm just using what I've got.)

A lot of ladies on here love wool at night, but W reacts to it. Fleece didn't work, so I just use PUL wraps and it's fine.

At about 5 months we started to realize that pocket diapers weren't working overnight anymore. We had to stuff so much that we created gaps at the legs and the diaper would leak.

The lovely ladies on this board got me into fitteds for overnight. Prior to that my primary experience with fitteds was with KL0s, and we did not love those one bit. We had tried goodmamas and didn't love those either, except for the cute factor.

But we finally tried the bububebe and life as we knew it changed. :)  One bububebe can take Evan from 6:30pm until 6:30 am with no leaks (should he decide to sleep that "late")

Good to know!  What do you recommend for a cover?

  • You can try hemp stuffing instead of the microfiber, its less bulky.  That being said, the only thing that has ever been bulletproof for us is a sunseedlings custom overnight organic velour fitted with wool overtop. (similar to the bububebe idea).
