We are having dinner with friends and their 2 week old baby tonite. I just said to my friend, "I'm so excited to meet little Madison" and she said, "actually, we call her peanut and prefer if you do too".
How loud were the crickets on the phone after she said that?
I'd call her everything peanut related...peanut butter, peanut shells, peanut oil...anything I could think of.
Strange. I could see if it was a nickname like Maddy, or something, and everyone has weird nicknames for their kid, but asking others to call her peanut?!
That is just so strange. But for Madison lol DH always goes off about that name claiming no one used it as a name till Splash. I always think about it when I hear it lol. DH is a Costanza
That poor little baby! I depise nick-names that stick with you. I was one that had a nick-name growing up and everyone (and I mean everyone) called me that until I was like 20...it aggravated the heLL out of me. Don't call her peanut, her name is Madison! :-)
That is so bizarre. I do think you should just call her by her name. That's kind of like asking someone to call your DH honey or baby b/c that's what you call him.
Re: How charming...I'm sure.
It was during the breakup.
I'm sure that went over well!
Very odd. Maybe you should refer to her as peanut butter, or circus peanut all night.

I simply wouldn't. Poor child. Is she going to be called peanut in daycare and kindergarten too?
