5w ultrasound questions and concerns!

So I had my early ultrasound this morning. IMO it didnt do anything except send my nerves and anxiety through the roof. The NP said she saw 1 possibly 2 gest sacs. The visible one (visible too me) she said was quite small and not as big as she would like too see it. But here is the thing...they a basing that on ovulation which would have been March 8th which is the same day I triggered. Well that obviously doesnt make since. I believe that I didnt ovulate until the 10ish. Anyways enough rambling...should I be concerned about the small sac? Or is that about right for the 5week mark. TIA!

Re: 5w ultrasound questions and concerns!

  • 5w is very, very early to do an ultrasound. I've actually never heard of anyone having one that early! I think there is a good chance things will work out fine and that you'll be able to see more in a few days. When is your next u/s?

  • I wouldn't be concerned at this point. Size is the matter of mm at this point and human perception plays a big role.

  • At 5w0d with Paige I saw the teeniest little sac.  Nothing else.  I honestly wouldn't have seen it unless my RE pointed it out to me.  5 weeks is super early.  I wouldn't be worried at all.

This.  And shame on them for making you all anxious!  Hang in there and keep busy until your next u/s!  Thoughts and prayers with you!

  • Thank you ladies. I guess my history coming back to haunt me is my greatest fear. They wanted a early check given my previous ectopic pregnancy. Then they were jibber jabbering about pseudosacs and not being able to tell and I was like "Well then why the helll are we doing this so early". If my hcg results come back wonky today I will go back on Friday for a ultrasound. If they come back normal I will go back next Monday.

  • I had one at 5w exactly because of a previous ectopic.  The only thing they really wanted to see was the presence of a sac in the uterus.  The tech was basically like, "It's there, but it doesn't really mean anything at this point."  It was unnerving, but we were mostly just relieved that we had something and that it was in the right place.

I know it's impossible, but try not to worry too much.  You had something and that's great!  If you're having another u/s later next week you should be able to see the h/b - that's when we finally felt just a little relieved!

  • I think having an u/s that early is crazy.  My RE won't do u/s for ANYONE - even if you have issues until 6w5d or later.  That way, you can ensure you will seee something (most times...)

keep calm until around 7wks when you can see more.
