Re: Do I NEED a high chair cover?

  • I don't even know what one is!

ETA: Oh those!  Eh.  I have one and never bothered to get a second one.  I just wipe the cart or high chair.  It's a little overprotective IMO unless you have a preemie or a kid with health issues.

Coming from a mom of 2... I think that is a pretty good indication that I was simply getting sucked in!

    LOL!

  • Yeah, don't bother!  We have a high chair/shopping cart cover and I used it a couple of times on a shopping cart.  Never on a high chair.

  • I don't know, but i registered for the one that is big and elastic-y to fit over anything, big shopping carts, high chairs, etc.  I like the idea of them for shopping carts especially!!  :)   I think its Jeep brand...
  • ::::runs to check out babysteals:::

They are cute! I didn't even register for a high chair because I wasn't sure when we would need one. Maybe I should!?!

  • I should edit my edit to clarify that I have only used the one I have a few times and don't even bother now.  I seem to have trouble communicating today...
  • I LOVE mine.

    I LOVE mine.

I use it everytime we are in a shopping cart or at a restaurant. Not because I'm OCD about germs at all. But because on the shopping cart- I can put some goldfish right on it (my SIL made mine and it even fits Costco double carts)

At the restaurant it collects food he drops. It's easier to pick the cover up and shake that out instead of picking up the food on teh floor. It's a little more comfy for them too. I leave it in the car and wash it every once in a while!

  • We just wipe highchairs & carts down with wipes.  If we used a cover I'd feel like we had to wash it after every use, and that would be a PITA.

  • Never wanted one.  Just one more thing to have to lug around and remember to take w/ you.

I wipe off carts and chairs when I put DS in, but really..... I want him introduced to some level of germs!

  • I looked at that one and I probably wouldn't get that one- there are a few different restaurant high chairs out there right now and it won't fit all of them.

  • My recommendation is that if you plan to eat out to get one. I worked in restaurant management and I will tell you the high chairs are one of the last things ever to get wiped down. We are talking once a year, if that, unless there is major ick on it. So think of a years worth of germs being passed on from one baby to the next. IMO, even if you just eat out once in a year - it is worth it!
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

  • We use ours all the time.  I got one at Target I think and it fits over the single and double grocery carts.  If I don't have it with me, I do wipe things down, but I feel like I need it more for the carts than at the restaurants.  She is forever wanting to chew on the cart handles, etc. and so I like having the cover over it.  I probably wash it a couple times a  month.

  • I was given one by my ex-SIL who never used it (should have been my first clue). Honestly I used it for about a month (6-7 months) and then it was more of a PITA than anything. I also believe a few germs don't hurt but help build immune systems. I will wipe if off if it looks too dirty but I usually just plop him in there. He doesn't chew on it or anything and any food that falls down there gets thrown out anyway.

  • I got one at marshalls for about $9 in clearance (then I received one as a gift.) when I lived in the burbs I used it on shopping carts. I didn't want ginny exposed to all the e-coli that has been found on grocery cart seats.  Indifferent

This almost exactly!  My aunt made my shopping cart cover.

And  the high chair cover is great for collecting all the food that doesn't make it into her mouth.  Yesterday she had rice and beans at a restaurant and it was so easy to just dump out all the rice onto a plate!
