Can you dialate without losing your MP?

I"m gonna say yes?? when I had DD#1 I showed up to a routine doc appt 7cm dilated in active labor ( didn't know it) and never saw my plug. But then again it could have fallen out in the toilet and I just didn't notice it. I never had any "bloody show" either. BUT with this baby I'm a little over 2cm and my plug is completely gone.

i think so...I am 3 cm dilated (for the past 3 weeks) but have never noticed losing my MP...just a little increased discharge but nothing that I would call a MP...but then again I guess I could have missed it!

Yes. As of my last appointment a wk and a half ago I was 2cm dilated, 80% effaced, and hadn't lost my plug yet.

your water can break without losing it as well. That happend to a friend of mine with both of her girls.

I haven't lost mine and I am 2 cm dialated. I have heard that there are women who never lose their MP until they are in labor.

I lost my MP with my first around 38 weeks. With my second, I didn't loose it until I was in active labor at the hospital, around 8cm dialated. I don't think I've lost it yet with this pg, as I'm 38w1d. I have a doctors appointment today so we'll see. I haven't been checked since 36 weeks.
