Babies: 9 - 12 Months

what is your LO's daily schedule?

DS is now almost 10 months old and I feel like every day is a new adventure and that we are more or less flying by the seat of our pants.  Some days DS gets up at 5:30 and some days he gets up at 8:00.  Some days he takes 3 naps a day, some days he takes one long nap, some days he barely naps at all.  We started sleep training a long time ago, and have veered off course a great deal since then.  I know its best for DS and for my family if we are on a more rigid schedule (we just moved into a new home yesterday and needless to say, things have been a bit chaotic lately).  It would be ideal if DS would wake around 7:30 and go down around 7:30.  Does anyone follow this routine, and what is does the rest of your day look like?  Thanks!!!

Re: what is your LO's daily schedule?

  • DD gets up around 7-730 and goes to bed at 7pm. She has a bottle about every 4 hours starting at 730. She does solids at 8:30am, 12pm and 530 pm. Napping she is pretty irregular with though. She naps at daycare everyday at 930 am and another at 1:30 pm. She doesnt nap well for me on weekends though.

  • We've pretty much had the same schedule/routine since about 5-6 months.

7am: DH wakes Grant up - he gets dressed - has solid's breakfast

7:45: The 'boys' get me up and DH leaves for work. Grant and I snuggle in bed for a little while and then we go for a walk, play, read, watch sesame street

9:30: Grant goes down for first nap with bottle (and I finish getting dressed)

12: Grant gets up from nap - has solid lunch - then we go to one of our play groups (today it is kindermusik), go to the park and swing, go for a walk, run errands, etc

2:30: Grant goes down for 2nd nap with bottle

5: Grant gets up from nap and we go to the park (again - where DH meets us on his way home from work), or run errands, go for a walk, play inside, etc (around 6-6:30 Grant has a bottle and a solid snack)

7:15: Bedtime routine + bottles and he's out for the night around 7:45

  • 6:30-7am - Wake up/diaper change/ 8oz bottle

    Playtime/dress time/ hang out

    10am - Breakfast (fruit)

    10:30ish - bottle/ nap

    Noon- playtime

Sometime between 2:30 and 5pm short cat nap/bottle

    6pm - Dinner (veggies)

    7pm - Bathtime

    7:30 - Bottle, story, bedtime.

Obviously this schedule changes a bit day to day based on DD's mood, our schedule, etc. But, in general, whether it is my husband or I, we try to maintain this general schedule.

  • We're kind of similar to you, except I'm not worried about getting him on a schedule.  He eats and sleeps when he wants.  He's happy, healthy, thriving and sleeping great at night and we're happy with it, so I have no plans to change.

I honestly can't imagine scheduling his feedings and naps by the clock.  It would not work with him.

  • He gets up between 7:45 and 8:15 usually.  Bottles every 3.5-4 hours during the day.  Solids around noon and 5:00.  Goes to bed between 7:45 and 8:30.  Takes 2-3 naps a day, although some days it's just one long nap.

  • To all previous posters:  Do you intentionally follow the routine, or this is just sort of how it works out?  I'm wondering if I need to be strict about the routine, or should I just follow DS's lead.  I don't mind forcing the issue when it comes to bed time, but is it better to be strict with nap time?  And what about meal time?  I think I'm making this harder than it needs to be!
