How does one start a book club and what do you typically do during your meetings?

How often would a club meet?

I'd like to start one or join one already existing, simply because I know I'm going to need an out once in a while for some adult conversation with some good and interesting people..... maybe I'm just looking for socialization but I like to read too :)
