I know DD isn't really 'late' on these yet, but she is like NOWHERE near doing either one. She can't even tripod for more than one second before she tips over and isn't really interested in rolling at all.
I'm not worried about it yet, but DH is, especially when he sees a bunch of pics on here (when he looks over my shoulder) of much younger babies sitting and/or laying on their tummies with their heads up (which DD will only do for about three minutes or less before she screams to be picked up). I told him it's fine and still within the normal range, but he's all aflutter.
Anybody else have a 'late' roller/sitter that I could show him later to make him feel better?
Re: Anybody else have a 'late' roller/sitter?
Joshua rolled early, but he wasn't sitting up unassisted for more than a few seconds until about 6.5 months. his pediatrician said that was normal when i asked. she said some kids are too active to want to sit.
i know that for rolling and tummy time, with the whole back to sleep campaign, a lot of kids are skipping crawling and just walking since they don't spend as much time on their tummies. i'm sure your DD will roll soon! i have seen a few other babies on here who didn't sit until 6.5 months like my DS.

shell surprise you.
I feel the same way that you do! I'm a bit paranoid about DD and her rolling. She's not a tummy time fan at all and will usually only tolerate it for about 5min before she starts getting mad and fussing wanting to be picked up. I try and do it for at least that long a few times/day just so that she is getting some time on her tummy but it's hard. She can lift and hold her head up fine, so that's not an issue, she just doesn't really like doing it. We've tried everything but no luck!! So she has yet to roll from tummy to back, and she just rolled back to tummy last week. She's only done it a handful of times so far. She's doing pretty good with the sitting unassisted though, last week she could only do it for about 30sec before falling over and then this weekend she was going 1-2min so that's getting better.
It's hard not to be worried about it. A friend of mines DD is 2 months older than my DD and at 6.5 months she was rolling both ways, crawling backwards and forwards, and pulling herself to standing!! She posted that on FB one day and I nearly died!! Made DH a little paranoid too!! I know every baby is different, but it's still hard not to worry and/or compare! I'm just hoping she starts doing everything at once!!
My LO still won't roll from belly to back but can roll like a champ on to his belly, as well as sit up unassisted and stand up briefly while holding on to something...it's like he never got the memo that he should roll the other way.
He also was nowhere near being able to sit up by himself until 6 1/2 months and then randomly started doing it one day. No tripoding first or anything. I guess I have a strange kid- but don't worry- kids do things on their own schedule!
DD was a late sitter. She was 7.5 months. She went from not sitting at all to sitting up unassisted in one day. I was shocked when I went in to get her from her nap and she was sitting in the middle of her crib staring at me. I think she just waited until she could pull to sitting on her own.
Edited to add: Your DD is so beautiful.
My DD definitely can't sit. She doesn't even come close to tripoding.
She sort of turns her head and comes close to going on her side, but nope she doesn't actually roll yet.
Not to worry. Looks like our DD's were born on the same day? Oct 13?
