NBR: Furnace and/or Water heater repair recs?

Our A/C sort of fizzled last fall (we have central air/gas furnace heat) and I think we need to have our water heater looked at too - any recommendations?  DH and I are not very good at this type of thing!

    We thought we needed someone but then ended up not needing it. But one of the ones that came highly recommended on Angie's list was Jakobs Heating in SE Portland.

    We had our furnace replace by Green Tech 1.5 years ago. I thought they did a good job, they had good service, didn't give a glossy/obnoxious sales pitch, offered good products. My husband shopped around and we liked their products and prices the best.
