Bedding question

This is Marion's current nursery

image

We're moving in a few weeks and the girls will be sharing a room.  The furniture will be the same for both of them, but the new room will be carpet (crappy apartment beige) and will still be sunny.

What do you think of this fabric choice for them?

Do you think since this is grey that it will be too dark?  The new room is smaller than Mar's old room and I just don't want it to look cave-like.  Oh, paint color is basic off white/cream/apartment standard issue.

Can you paint the walls or will you be stuck with the beige?  I love all your fabrics, but they might look dingy with an all beige background.

I might go with brighter colors like you have now (oranges/pinks) or bright blues/greens if you are stuck with beige carpet and paint.

  • I think we can repaint, but we're stuck with the carpet.

We can put down a rug though in the citron color to distract from the ugly beige though.

If we can repaint, would you go with just a bright white?  Or another color since all the furniture is white?

  • I love the fabrics and love the idea of covering the carpet with a rug to make it pop more. I am also envious of your sewing/knitting skills.

A throw rug would be fantastic.  I am also crazy jealous of your sewing skills.

A lightened up colored of the yellow would be fun on the walls and would really brighten up the space.  I would also make the curtains with the floral print since a lot of it is hidden as the cribskirt.

my sewing skills are nothing to be envious of - if you can just sew a line (doesn't even have to be straight!) you can make everything I've made!

  • I was looking at color trends for the summer this evening and saw this combo and thought you should see it...

Look at the ode to nature set, the mango color next to the color you've chosen is sweet!

Perhaps that could be an accent wall color, paired with white walls?

  • Kelly - that's perfect!  Thank you!

I still haven't sold Josh on the idea of painting.  We've been surrounded by BLUE walls for three years now and the idea of plain off white is appealing to him - LOL.

But I've been looking for a rug color and that mango is perfect!!
