NBR - Cost for cleaning person

So we figured with LO we would rather have more quality time with him rather than do the household chores in our free time.  If you don't mind disclosing how much do you pay for someone to come to clean your house and how often do they come.  Did you do a backround check? We were thinking of getting a copy of her license in case something were to disappear.  What are some of the questions to ask... sorry we are a bit clueless.  TIA

Re: NBR - Cost for cleaning person

  • If you go with a place like Merry Maids they charge $37.50 per person per hour.

My Mom owns her own cleaning business and charges $30 an hour per person. I have a very clean and non-cluttered home, it's 3200 square feet but I only have the downstairs cleaned (2600). It would take 3 to 4 hours to clean my downstairs.

My Mom's service doesn't pick up after you or do dishes. They clean the house (dusting, floors, kitchen/bathroom, baseboards, fans on an as needed basis, blinds, etc.).
  • Loading the player...
  • 70 every 2 weeks for a 4br 2bath
  • $100 for once a month, and $75 for every two weeks.  He stays between 4 to 5 hours.  I found him through a posting at DH's medical school--we just got VERY lucky to find him randomly!  Otherwise, I'd recommend a referral or using a service.
  • It's going to depend on the size of your house/COL in your area-there's a big difference between the time/manpower it takes to clean a 1500 sq foot house as opposed to a 3000 sq foot house and there will be a difference in a high COL area as opposed to a low COL area.

Work with an agency so you know you can get someone you trust. I'd ask around your area-I got our cleaning lady recommendation from a neighbor who had a good experience.

    Good luck.

  • We pay 100 per vist (every other week) and its the best 100 I have ever spent.

That price include 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, kitchen and living areas with a lot of tile. They sweep, mop, change sheets, dust, clean toilets/showers, clean my entire kitchen (including whatever dishes are in the sink), vaccum, and I couldnt live without them!

  • $100 every other week for a licensed/bonded service.
  • We have two gals who come every other Thursday. They're here for a couple hours and we pay $80 each visit. Worth every penny!

  • We have a woman come every other week, she's $20/hr and takes about 2 hours to clean our 2bd/2ba two story 1200sqft townhome - she'll do the dishes and take out the trash, too.

It's absolutely worth it. After having one baby and trying for over a year to keep up the house just wasn't as clean as either of us would've liked. DH and I would always argue about things not being clean and it wasn't worth the stress when we can resolve it for $100/mo for two full cleanings and just do our own spot cleaning inbetween.

    Sooo worth it.
