Did your DD wear a dress to her 1st birthday party?

DD's having a ladybug theme for her birthday.  I have two outfits with ladybugs on them, one dress and one shirt/pants outfit.  I plan to put one on her for the picture on her invites and the other one for her to wear on her birthday.  Just wondering if having a dress on her for her party is a good idea.  I'm not worried about it getting dirty, more concerned about her being comfy.  Getting cake all over it isn't an issue, it's not a fancy dress or anything.  What do you think?

TIA!

  • DD wore the dress that's in my siggy.  When we went outside we put track pants on under it and sneakers.  When it was time for cake we changed her into a sleeper that was already stained and probably not going to wind up in the keep clothes box.   If it hadn't been cold I would have just left her in her diaper.

  • Our LO wore a tutu.. it was perfect.. i thought the tulle might be uncomfortable for her, but she didnt mind at all.  She was so overwhelmed with the people/balloons and new toys she didnt fuss a minute over her dress.  I say go for it!  GL

  • Dd had a cupcake theme party. I got her a dress made with her name under the cupcake. It fit great and she was able to run all around. I say go with it , it sounds too cute

  • My DD did. To me it seems DD is most comfy in a dress. Can your DD walk? As long as she can walk (you know how when they crawl their kness get all caught up in the skirt part) she should be fine and comfy and adorable!

  • DD did wear a dress for part of her party. When we did the smash cake she just wore her diaper and after that a 1st birthday onsie. Her B day is in August and it was 93 degrees so that worked for us. The party was inside and she didn't have trouble getting around and she was comfy.
  • DD wore a dress for her party until she finished eating her cake. Then, we changed her to a ladybug shirt and red pants to open presents.

  • Lily wore a cute birthday shirt from Gymboree (last year's birthday shirt) and a skirt.  When she got cake all over it, she wore a little aloha dress that matched the party theme.  She was fine with both, but it is also hot outside here, so it made sense.

  • We didn't do a real birthday party but we went to the zoo with family so she wore a birthday girl shirt and jeans. This year I haven't decided if she will do a dress or just wear her birthday girl shirt and jeans again. This year is a real birthday party at the grandparents house.

  • DD wore a pink birthday dress from Carter's that had a cake picture on it.  It didn't seem to bother her at all, and she wasn't really walking yet at that point.  She's in dresses quite a bit though, so I think she's used to them.
  • Yep, I bought one from Etsy. I took it off while she ate cake and then put it back on her. It worked out just fine.
  • DD wore an aloha themed dress to match her luau party then changed into a birthday girl shirt and tu tu for the cake.
