I just checked my bank account and there is a $20.00 mystery charge from "WPI PARENTING MAG." After researching online, it seems that if you make a credit card purchase at Motherhood Maternity, they automatically sign you up for Parenting magazine! I did not agree to a magazine subscription, nor have I received one! I am furious! Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you resolve the situation? Thanks!
Re: PARENTING MAG, MOTHERHOOD MATERNITY FRAUD
I have made credit card purchases there twice, and each time they have asked me if I want a "free" issue of Parenting magazine. I always told them no because I figured that this was the idea -- "give" you a free issue and then charge you after that if you don't cancel.
If they did ask you and you agreed to the "free" issue, you should be able to cancel -- see if you can get/find the agreement (probably fine print). If they didn't ask you, I would ask them to remove the charge and, if they won't, call your credit card company and challenge the charges as unauthorized.
Good luck!

You rock! Took 30 seconds. Thank you. It had been on my "to do" list.. but that was super easy! Thanks!
My MM store gave me all the details up front. I probably would have kept the subscription but it was sooo early in the pregnancy I felt I should wait. I cancelled, the charge never showed up, but I still got a few issues after that.
I've heard of it happening to others and I guess it just depends on the salesperson/store with which you are dealing. Some are just dishonest. Some are OK. I'm sorry it happened to you the bad way.
I do remember being asked and I declined.... but I think I'll check my account to be sure!
Glad to see they're cancelling without much fuss. Too bad if it is the sales clerk being dishonest. I'd call the store to report it after I cancel the sub.
