Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Do you play music/noise for your kiddo at night?

We just moved kiddo to his room.  He always falls asleep to lullabies so it occurred to me leaving them on all night might help.  Then again, it could be totally annoying!!

Actually, his "sleep mix" starts with lullabies and goes to ocean sounds by the end.  Maybe not so annoying...

  • The Homedics spa thing has a timer on it... could you use something like that? We use it for the ceiling projector and it goes off after 30 minutes.
  • Loading the player...
  • We don't play music for DS, but we leave a fan (box, not ceiling) on for him and he loves the white noise.

  • No, not unless he's having a really hard time settling down. We didn't want him to be dependent on music to fall asleep. My nephew fell asleep to a certain CD for the first 2+ years of his life, which meant it was next to impossible to get him down if/when he was sleeping away from home (if my sister didn't pack the CD, and/or a player depending where they were).

  • DD sleeps with the ocean sound all night. When she slept in our room for the first few months I got so used to it that I had trouble sleeping without it when she transitioned to her crib!

I could set it to go off (it's off an ipod) but I'm wondering if it might help him when he wakes.

Same here. The white noise really helps him sleep.

  • Yes. DS listens to a lullaby CD every night. We even take it with us if we're traveling and going to be sleeping away from home because its part of his bedtime routine. Once he's in his crib with pjs on and we turn his night night music on, he knows its time to go to sleep. We actually set it on repeat so it doesn't stop through the night.

  • We still play this noise machine with the rain sound.

OH we do use a small fan for white noise (and pack it with us when we travel) but we don't use music. Just clarifying. :)

  • We're still using the cd that came w/that J&J Bedtime Bath gift set. I love it.

DD doesn't technically need it to sleep, but I did notice that when her cd player was broken and I couldn't play it, she didn't sleep as soundly (alot of tossing and turning).

  • DS has slept with a white noise machine on every night since birth.

  • We still play the rain sounds all night and at naps in order to drown out all other noises. I sleep with a white noise machine at night too; I can't sleep without it!

  • We play a lullabye CD (Jewel's Lullabye) for DD at bedtime after her books.  It stops after the last song, but we also keep the Homedics sound machine on (with the rain sound) all night and also at naps when she's at home, not at daycare.  I also sleep with a white noise machine and honestly can't sleep without it.  There are too many other bumps in the night and other household noises that wake me up and I guess I'm afraid they'll wake her up too.
