Floor for playhouse?

We live in the northwest and it rains a lot here. We're getting DD a playhouse for her birthday and want her to be able to play in it. We are getting https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3927522 that one for her and it doesn't have a built in floor. I'm worried that water will wet the ground under her house and it will be uncomfortable for her to sit and play on a wet ground.

Have any of you put a floor under your playhouse? Does your sit on grass or concrete? We've got both options available to us.

Re: Floor for playhouse?

  • We have a similar playhouse with no floor. We took a 1" thick piece of treated plywood, cut it to fit exactly under the house and left it longer than the front porch on ours so that he'd have a "front yard" and then covered the whole thing with that fake grass looking outdoor carpet. So far, so good after one summer. I'll see if I can find a pic somewhere that might have it in the background.

  • Ok...I found a pic. It's hard to see because it's covered in pinestraw but maybe you can get the idea. Ds needs to learn to rake his yard :)

  • We got some really thick foam stuff that fits together like a puzzle piece. It's supposed to be used for shops, etc. It was about $20.
