Hi ladies - My DD is only a month old, but I'm already thinking about #2. I was diagnosed with PCOS and used clomid/IUI to get pregnant with DD. I have a few questions with regard to future babies:
- If I had issues conceiving #1, I assume I'll have the same issues with #2 - has that been others' experience? Do most people who require IF treatment for #1 need it again to conceive their next child?
- What is the best type of BC to use if I have PCOS if I'm planning another baby in a couple of years? I was on the pill before we started TTC and before the PCOS was diagnosed and feel like being on the pill for so many years made TTC more difficult (although that's probably in my head).
Obviously I'll ask my dr. these questions too at my 6-week appt, but just wanted to see what others' experiences had been. Thanks!
Re: Second baby after PCOS issues conceiving #1
After my son (IUI) was born I thought I was "fixed" and had my period for the first time in over 2 years on my own. I had it for 3 normal cycles, still not getting pregnant. I ended up just going back to the RE for IUI because of our issues. After Gwen was born...I am definitely not "fixed". It has been 72 days since my last AF. I swore I would never go on BC again, because it seems so wrong considering how we struggle so much to get pg. However, my PCOS symptoms are back and if my doctor says that is the only thing to help, I will have to.
Good luck!
TTC#2=July 2011: Surprise BFP: Chemical Pregnancy
I wasn't on the pill, we figured we had such a small chance on conceiving on our own. But I WAS on Metformin for my milk supply and well... see the second ticker below
There have been lots of surprise BFPs on the board lately, so definitely don't assume you'll need assistance the second time around!
