Yes, we've been composting for about 6 years. It took a few years to get it right. But once we did, it is awesome. We put it in all our new plantings. The key for us was keeping it moist enough. DH put a drip line in it so it gets a few drips of water each day. Before that, it was just too dry to start.
we have a counter top conpost keeper that we empty once or twice a week. Google kitchen composter, and that should bring up stores that sell them. I can't for the life of me remember where I bought it. For some reason Garders Companion rings a bell. Get extra filters, too. And DD loves it! I dig up a shovel full and we look for worms.
also, we don't use as much brown material as they say to, and keep it a little wetter. It's trial and error. And experimenting
