Looks like I failed the 1 hour GD test today and now it's on to the 3 hour test. How many of you have failed the test? How many of you have gone on to pass the 3 hour GD test? Any words of encouragement?
I failed the one hour and passed the 3 hr, apparently only 14% of people go on to fail the 3 hour, so you'll probably (hopefully!) be fine, no worries! But the drink is twice as strong, bleh!
I failed the 1 hr and 3 hr, but I also think that I have been eating way too many carbs over the last 6.5 months. It could also be that my horomones are out of whack. Almost everyone I have talked to IRL that has been pregnant, failed the 1 hr and passed the 3 hr. I think I am just one of the unlucky ones.
Words of encouragement: only 3-5% of pregnant women have GD so 95-97% of pregnant women don't!! And if you do fail, you get to have an excellent diet plan that hopefully will keep you from gaining too much weight and will help you take the weight off faster. I wish you lots of luck!!!
Do you know what the # was on your 1-hour? The higher it was, the more likely you are to have GD, but like PP said, your chances are pretty small anyway.

My results were 142 and it said the results should be less than 130. I haven't gained any excessive weight. For being 6 1/2 months pregnant, I have only gained 8 lbs.
Not going to lie...the 3 hour was traumatic for me! After the first hour I almost passed out when I stood up, and had to spend the remaining 2 hours in a recliner in a separate room (I had to go to a large lab type facility for mine with a waiting room that had like 30 people) wtith ice packs surrounding me b/c I kept breaking into cold sweats!!
I downloaded a movie to my iPod and watched that the third hour after I recovered from the trauma of the second hour!
My advice is bring an ipod movie for distraction, bring water/snacks with you for immediately after you're done (I had to eat something before they would let me leave b/c I was so shaky), and go as early as possible in the morning.
I failed the 1 hr. My friend's midwife told her to make sure she ate a meal high in protein as her last meal before fasting. I followed the same advice and ended up passing my 3 hr. test. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with it but was willing to take the risk.
It seems like almost everyone fails their 1 hr. these days. I'm sure you'll do fine!
TTC since 05
Dh diagnosed with azoospermia. Unsuccessful reconstructive surgery in 07-08.
IVF w/ ICSI #1: BFP! 1 strong heartbeat and 1 lost twin @ 2nd U/S...bittersweet
i failed the 1 hour by 4 points and passed the 3 hour with flying colors as for words of encouragement, i really didn't think the test was bad at all and i felt absolutely fine afterwards. just bring a book to keep you busy & you'll be fine!

I failed the one hour and now I am waiting to find out the results for the 3 hour next week. I'm really hoping I passed. I passed the one hour in my last pregnancy so I was surprised I failed this time as I am lighter now than I was before.
I failed the one hour (scored 160).... but passed the three hour with flying colors!
That's a relief to hear! I just got called today after getting a score of 150. Obviously I won't know until I take it, but it's reassuring to know that it *might* not be the final word. (Although my sister and several cousins have had GD so genetics may not be my friend this time around...)
I failed the 1 hour with 153, and then easily passed the 3 hour. In fact, after the first hour, my level on the 3 hour test was only 125, and that was after drinking twice as much glucose as for the one hour test.
With my first pregnancy, I failed the 1-hour and the 3-hour, and was diagnosed with GD. With this pregnancy, I failed the 1-hour (147), and passed the 3-hour.
The first hour of the test was the worst part. I felt nauseated from drinking all that sugar, especially on an empty stomach. After the first hour passed by, I felt much better. Just try to walk around if you start to feel sick, that helped for me.
I'm sure you'll pass, but if you don't it's really not that bad. You just have to count your carbs, and cut out sweets. The worst part of having GD, for me, was pricking my finger to test my blood sugar 4 times a day; and even that I got used to. The best part was not gaining excess weight in my last 8 weeks of the pregnancy. Good Luck!
I failed the one hour earlier this week and am going in to take the three hour on Tuesday probably. I am skeeeered!
Don't be skeeeeered!!!! The worst that can happen is you'd just have to watch your diet and probably meet with a nutritionalist/dietitian. A PITA, but at least it isn't something that can't be managed. (But either way, I hope you pass the 3 hour!)
I failed the 1 hour. Took the 3 hour and waiting for my test results that my doctor will go over with me on Tuesday.
I failed the 1 hour terribly! Then passed my three hour test, but my first hour results weren't as good as they would have liked, but b/c my weight and bp had been good, they weren't concerned with GD.
I say don't try to change anything/eating habits up, b/c you want to know where you're at as is...bring phone/computer, book, or something to keep you occupied though, it is terribly boring!

DD - failed 1 hour & passed 3 hour
DS - failed 1 hour & passed 3 hour
Good luck and don't stress over it.

Me ~ 3 hour was perfectly normal.
I did my 3 hour first thing in the morning, so my fasting was overnight ~ figured it would be easier that way.
