Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Meals for daycare: Ideas please!

My LO is 15 months.  She will need to start bringing her lunch to daycare.  I purchased one of those toddler lunch compartment thingys to pack her lunch in.  So there's a big slot for main item and two small slots for sides.

I'm not sure if her lunch will be refridgerated...I still need to ask.  It may possibly be out for 5 hours.

Any ideas on meals?  I am trying to add variety.  Any good websites with ideas?

  • Today DD's lunch was noodles (elbow noodles that I overcook a little and toss with a little butter and parm cheese), chopped strawberries and green beans (from a can because they are softer).

Yesterday she had turkey and chunks of cheddar cheese and a combo of black beans and avacado.  It's been a long week and I can't remember what I sent for lunch earlier in the week.  Our daycare has a small fridge in every room to make sure that food and milk stays cold.

  • I was hoping this would get more responses since I am running out of ideas too... I make a sunbutter and jelly sandwich some days, leftover pasta or soup.  I give her a fruit and veggie everyday to go with it.  DD will not eat meat and I am just really having a hard time coming up with vegetarian options that still taste okay after sitting in a lunch box for 5 hours.

  • hmm...what is sun butter?

    So far I have:

mac and cheese (with whole wheat noodles)

    grilled cheese on wheat bread

    eggs, fruit and veggie

    peanut butter sandwhich

    brown rice with lentils

    wheat noodles with peas

    yogurt fruit salad

but some of these will depend on refridgeration.
