There are a few recipes on www.wholesomebabyfood.com. We waited longer too. But DD didn't get a tooth until 10 months. She doesn't really care for them now. They always break and fall on the floor.
Technically, your child should be sitting up and even crawling by the time you give one. But once they get teeth, they can break big pieces of the biscuit off pretty handily, so then you have to be careful about choking. The Earth's Best ones are best for little hands. I've never made them. The other thing to consider is that most of them are made from wheat, and a lot of people wait to give wheat because it's a common allergen.

Have you tried Mum Mums? They are made for babies before they can have things like teething biscuits. They disolve in the mouth after a few seconds. My LO loves chomping on one and I dont have to worry about him choking.

Re: teething biscuits?
We didn't start teething biscuits until a bit later. They are pretty hard.
I have no recipes though.

We did frozen waffles. She loved them and still does and they get mushy so she can't really choke on them.
Thanks ladies - I was worried about chunks breaking off, so it makes a lot of sense to wait until they can sit and crawl.
The frozen waffles sound like a pretty neat idea. Now I have a few directions I can head in as far as option. Thanks again
