Wet pail/ Dry pail?

I've read about wet and dry pails and I'm not sure if I understand. Do you have one of each? And if so, what do you put in the dry pail?

Re: Wet pail/ Dry pail?

  • I don't think most people use wet pail any more with diapers - they are only useable with prefolds and flats, not ones with covers/pockets, etc.  Also wet pail are a drowning hazard for kids.

I think most of us use a pail liner in a trash can or a hanging wet bag that hangs off the side of a changing table ro doorknob.  Then do laundry every 2-3 days.  Works well and smell isn't bad.

  • Loading the player...
  • Oh, I thought it meant wet pail is a pail for wet things (like soaked diapers), I didn't realize it meant that it was a pail with water in itEmbarrassed I'm glad I asked! Thanks for explaining it to me!
  • Most everyone uses dry pails anymore I think. Wet pails are a drowning hazard. Plus I think bleach goes in them with the pf's and I wouldn't be a fan of the smell in my home all the time personally.

Okay, I had not even contemplated that they were different things. Somehow I truly wonder if I am going to be able to learn enough to competently CD this child!

I totally know how you feel! I'm new to this too and I have just come to accept that it's going to be a lot of  trial by error in the beginning!

  • So, you don't need a pail AND a large wet bag? We are limited with space so I really want just one. I was thinking of hanging a large wet bag on my closet door which is next to the changing area.

Anyone have a hanging wet bag to recommend that holds about 2 days of diapers?

  • We only do dry pails.  I've never had a reason to soak my diapers.
