Success after IF

ok gross but...baby fat rolls

I can't believe I am even asking/admitting to this! Sophia has been chunking up over the last month or so, and her fat rolls (esp neck) get icky and a little smelly. I have to clean the area daily, with a wash cloth and then dry it. It happens on her thigh rolls too, but not nearly as much. I brought it up with the pedi and she said it was fine, but ick.

Please tell me Sophie isn't the only one! What do you do to keep that area clean??? TIA!!!

Re: ok gross but...baby fat rolls

  • We have that issue too.  :(

For the neck, I just put my wet hand under there with water in the bath and wipe it out.  You can feel the chunks coming out.  Gross.  (It's really hard to get a washcloth under there.)  I also try to keep it dry during the day with a cloth diaper.  When it's bad, diaper cream (zinc oxide) in the folds helps.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I found a piece of granola that I'd been eating wedged in Claire's neck roll about 6 hours after I'd been eating it.  I guess I was nibbling as I was feeding her.  I just would use a wet cloth a few times a day to wipe her rolls.

  • We had that problem with L's neck.  I used to clean it with a wash cloth a couple times a day.
  • Stella gets what we like to call cheese neck.  It's nasty!  After every bath, we dry her off well and make sure to put baby powder under her neck.  It works great!

  • Granny BEADS!

We wash every night in the bath, and dry really well.  I check periodically throughout the day to make sure she's not getting funky...then we attack with a wipe.  I hate granny beads...

  • We call it "neck stink." :) My mom insists that babies don't ever smell bad. I think she has a bad memory. We deal with the neck stink ... and the fat rolls ... by "pre-washing"--scrubbing with a wet soapy washcloth BEFORE he gets in the bath every night. He also used to get stinky in his little fists when he kept them clenched all the time. SERIOUSLY stinky.
After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!

I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.

And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!

  • haha. this made me laugh. but yeah, miss A has this problem too, esp under her neck b/c she drools so much (even though we put a bib on her).  i wash w/a warm washcloth and found that she screams and hates me trying to get under there...the trick? tummy time - she'll stretch that neck out and the fold will disappear and you can get in there nice and good to clean it! :) HTH. oh and CA baby calendula cream is great for those creases!
  • haven't read the other posts, but cal had this BIG time when he was younger and his pedi prescribed a power but that was really hard to apply and get it to stay there, so then he just said to use lotrimin cream (i think) and that worked really well.

  • okay, just read the posts and no one else used an Rx - Cal's diagnosed as a recurring yeast infection, which is why we used an anti-fungal to clear it up.
