Since they say spotting is common lets take a poll!

How many of you had spotting/bleeding red and went on to have successful pregnancies?

I had red blood spotting 2 times in the past 2 days went to the ER had an US with a strong hb, baby measuring ahead and they have no idea where it is coming from. I am soo nervous and want to hear success stories!

  • I did very early on.  Found out my progesterone was totally in the tank and got put on supplements for the first three months.  I now have a happy, healthy 3 y.o.

  • I had brown spotting for at least a week (thought for sure af was coming on but sure enough I was pregnant) My progesterone was low so they put me on a supplement.

around 12-14 weeks I had some more spotting and ended up having an ultrasound and all was good.

     dd is now 3. :)

  • I did with both of mine! E right around 7 weeks, and J at 6 weeks.
  • I did, I was bleeding so much it looked like my period for a short time.  Freaked me out, I had a slight tear in my placenta.  That was around 6 weeks.  DD just turned 3!
  • Spotting with all three and I have 2 boys.

  • No spotting with ds and no spotting with this one either.
  • I had bright red spotting with my first pregnancy at 8 weeks.  Went to the doctor and they saw the hb and everything.  Later that night, I started cramping and by the next day there was nothing. Sad

I was pregnant two times after that, and never had any spotting.  Everything turned out fine.  See sig pics. Smile

eta:  Okay, I'm an idiot.  I thought you meant went on to have successful pregnancies after a m/c.  Ignore me.

I had brown/red/pink spotting with my DS on two separate occasions both between 9&12 weeks.

  • I had spotting with Cam and Joey.  With Cam, it was red for one day and the rest was brown (that lasted about two weeks --- I think around 7-8 weeks pg).  With Joey, I had light pink/brown spotting for a couple of days.

(((HUGS))) I HATE that worry!  It is the worst.  I would turn the light on in the bathroom every.single.time I peed at night (and as you know, that's alot when pg!) just to check for spotting.  I did that until I was in my 3rd trimester, with both kids.  :(

Hang in there and stay positive!  And rest as much as you can.

  • Well, you probably don't want to hear the negatives but I am one of those that spotting was not good.  With my first pregnancy I had spotting that eventually ended in a miscarriage.  My last two pregnancies did not have spotting and I have two healthy children.

From the sounds of it, I sure everything is OK.

  • ME!!  Both times!  I spotted around 9 wks. and again at 11 wks. with DS.  I was DEVASTATED the first time it happened and prepared myself for the worst.  It resulted in LOTS of u/s all of which were normal!

With DD I spotted from 7 or 8 wks. until 11 wks. or so.  That's a LOT of spotting!  I went in for an u/s and they found the source of the bleeding.  I had a subchorionic hemorrhage.  It resolved itself like the Dr. said it would, but again, I had a TON of u/s to check on her growth and development.  I ended in preterm labor around 30-32 wks. and was put on bedrest and had weekly u/s and checks.

My uterus is irritable....that totally fits my personality!  ;-)

  • I had bright red spotting once at 12 weeks with DD#1 and had to have the Rhogam shot becuase I'm Oneg.

I had bright red spotting at 11, 19 and 37 weeks with DD#2 and had the Rhogam shot the first 2 times.

  • So far so good with me but I definitely know how scary it is!! I had BRIGHT red bleeding/spotting at 10 1/2 weeks for the first time. I've had it several times since then, the most recent time being a week and a half ago.

When I went in the first time, they did a speculum exam and my doctor said he saw a spot on my cervix bleeding. He called it a "fryable" (sp?) cervix. Basically, it just means it's extra sensitive and he told me I'd probably bleed again, which I have. Anyway, GL to you!

  • I had bright red spotting at 7 weeks, called they said not to worry. A couple days later I had gushing bright red blood. They did an ultrasound and baby was fine. I was diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma (a blood clot that forms when the placenta attaches). It has since resolved itself and here I sit at almost 35 weeks pregnant Smile

  • I did with all 3 pregnancies. The first 2 pregnancies it was unknown spotting, this time the spotting is due to a subchorionic hematoma that was diagnosed at 6 wks. I have spotted on and off this whole PG because of it.

  • I spotted for a few days with P at 6 weeks and on and off for two weeks (weeks 7-9) with C. My OB chalked it up to the numerous, little blood vessels on and around the cervix. They become super sensitive and can rupture, hence the spotting. My SIL bled (red blood) off and on throughout her entire pregnancy with #2. Owen is a happy and healthy 20 month old now. Good luck!

  • Same as you I had it at about 7-8 weeks, went to ER they did ultrasound & said they didn't know where the bleeding was coming from,  DD is 3 now.  Good luck I hope it is nothing to worry about for you as well.

  • I had pink/brown/red spotting with my first pregnancy...and DS is now 3.  Scared the crap out of me, but everything was fine.  I was around 9w when it happened.  They weren't sure what caused it, but did find a cyst when they did the u/s, so it may have been related to that.
  • I had bright red blood and clots in the begining with Halee and all was fine.  Good Luck!!!

  • I spotted quite a few times with DD1 and the pregnancy was perfect and she was perfectly healthy. Good luck!
  • I've been pregnant three times, I've spotted all three times.  The second pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, but the other two were healthy.

Good luck, I know with your history this has to be very stressful for you!  Hugs.

  • No spotting either one. Good luck.
  • No spotting with any of the three.  Plenty of other "concerns" but no spotting.  My paranoia starts in the third tri when I stop growing and start losing weight.
  • I had spotting with my 2nd DD.  We were fine but it scared me really badly because I just had a miscarriage a few months before.  It was a minor placenta abruption.  Later in that pregancy I had pre-e and was induced 4 weeks early because of that but I don't think it was related to the abruption.

  • (HUGS) I had beyond spotting - actual gushes when I'd stand up and it would literally soak right through my pants; like a complete hemmorage at 11+wks with DD2 and continued heavy bleeding off and on through nearly 20weeks.  Same thing as you - trip to the ER and healthy HB and baby. I was diagnosed with a SCH (subchorionic hemmatoma) and mine was HUGE. Most resolve by 20wks, mine didnt  and I actually delivered with the clot still really big... But as you can see, I have a healthy 1.5 yr old. Best of luck!
  • During my 4th pregnancy I started spotting at 8 wks & m/c at 9wks.  During my 5th pregnancy (4th child) I started spotting & then some light bleeding around 6wks.  Turned out it was a subchorionic hemmorhage next to the placenta.  It went away on its own by 13 wks & I delievered a healthy 9lb, 9oz baby boy 8 mos later!

GL- I hope all works out for you.

  • I had some spotting with DS2 around 6 weeks and here he is :)
  • I did for a couple days with #3.  I was about 6 weeks and have no idea what caused it.  I also measured 2 weeks behind with her according  to my LMP.

  • I had red spotting with DS1 on two separate occassions in my first trimester.  Both times I went in for an u/s and to be evaluated and both times they couldn't determine the cause.

The rest of my pregnancy was very uneventful and easy.  DS was born a few days late and was 9.5 lbs.

  • I had spotting with this pregnancy... it wasn't early on, but right around the beginning of my 2nd tri at 14 weeks, 16 weeks and 17 weeks. It wasn't bright red, it was more dark brown, light pink, and it wasn't much at all, but my 2 midwives told me that spotting in 2nd, 3rd, etc. pregnancies is common. They gave me several reasons (because your uterus has already been stretched, the baby has had a growth spurt, there's so much extra blood flow going through that area, ting blood vessels bursting, etc.) I know how hard it is to not worry but just keep telling yourself that YOU are healthy, your BABY is healthy and everything is FINE. I just kept repeating that to myself and kept myself positive and I think I just programmed my mind to be positive and it helped to not worry as much. (((hugs)))
