NBR: Let's talk about Chicago Hair Stylists

I am in DESPERATE need of a cut and color.  Haven't had my hair done since about a month and a half before DS was born, and uhh, he's 5 months now!  The person I used to go to for color has married, had a baby, and moved on to a salon far, far away.  The person I go to for cuts just isn't as good as she used to be.  I don't know why, she used to be amazing, but not so much anymore.  I need someone new and someone that is good with very thick, long and wavy hair.  Any suggestions?

    I'm willing to travel a bit for someone that is really good and worth the commute.  However, I am in the southwest suburbs, so I don't think I would go more than a 45 min commute.  Anywhere in the city is fine, southwest burbs, and west suburbs are a pretty quick and easy drive for me as well.  North Suburbs are too far.

    I go to Mario Tricoci in Oak Brook. I like Sadia for color and Joseph for a cut.

    Well, I started going to a place on Chicago's northwest side, maybe too far from you.  Do or Dye, stylist - Caryn.   Address:  6005 N Nina, Chicago, 60631 (Edison Park basically).  

    I got tired of paying $200+ for highlights and a cut in the city.  At Do or Dye, I pay $88 (not incl. tip) for highlights and a cut (now I can't recall if that's a full head of highlights or partial, but either way, I've been really happy every time I've gone there.)

    When I lived in the city, I went to Pamela at Brilli Salon (Ashland & Belmont).  She is absolutely amazing.  I wish I could find the time to still go to her, but I can't.  I've been in the 'burbs now for about 6 years and haven't found anyone even close to being as good as Pamela.

    Crista at Aniko Salon in Chicago is awesome!!!!  She has been doing my hair for years!!!

     

    If your weird about hairstylists (like I am) go to a few salons and SEE the stylist and their hair ... I met her at a work seminar and asked who did her hair cuz I loved it ... she does her own. So she has been my stylist and always will be

    I won't let anyone color my hair except for Jamie at The Circle Salon.  She does highlights in a way that they look completely natural and grow out really subtlely.  She cuts too.  Though my favorite person for cutting in the city is Laura or David at Red7 Salon downtown.  All of these are fairly expensive.  But in my opinion, worth it.  I have fine, straight hair, which makes any messups really noticeable.
