We are expecting two girls. What are your thoughts in Isla Alice Owens and Mila Spicer Owens. (the middle names are taken from both maternal and paternal grandmothers) My mom Alice died when I was young, while it is not the prettiest name, it's going to be in the mix somewhere...
Re: Thoughts on my twins names
They rhyme.
What about Allison for a first name? That way you can use a form of Alice and then your first names won't rhyme.
I have to say, I love Alice and love it more than Isla or Mila.
I like Isla alot but it will be mispronounced by tons of people who think it's "Ees-la" or "Ice-la", etc. I don't think Isla and Mila work as a twin set- too rhymey.
first, Alice is a great name and I think you should use it as a first name!
second, there is a girl on my local board who has two girls named Mila and Isla.
third, I commented as Isla in anther post. I hate the name because I really feel it should be pronounced as is-la. I think she will constantly be correcting people. As pretty as Mila is, she is also going to be correcting people with Mee-la or My-la. I just don't think they are great choices becaue of that. Sorry!!!!
fourth, you may not want to share your last name on a public message board.
pretty, but will totally get hacked during pronounciation. As a teacher, I say get back to the drawing board but use Alice...it is such a great name!
Mila and Isla are rather rhyme-y. Otherwise, I like both sets of names on their own.
ETA: I didn't see your pronunciation preferences. Well, clearly, I would have butchered both of your kids' names.
Mee-la and Ees-la still kinda rhyme. Not good.
Go with Alice and then back to the drawing board from there...
Your explanation of the pronounciation of these names is very different than I thought after reading your post. Like the others...I would think that these are rhyming names and wouldn't make good names for twins (since I think most people would think the same as all of us readers). I would pronounce "Isla" like I would say "Island" (obviously without the end part), and Mila like "Miley Cyrus" (I hadn't heard of the names you mentioned).
If you really like those names, what about making them the middle names? I totally can see Alice as a first name, or a variation like Alicia or Allison.

this exactly.
Sorry - not a fan. Too rhymey and waaaay too nebulous as to pronouncation.
I like using Allison or Alice as a first name.
I like Mila - that is my mom's name but spelled Myla.
Isla reminds me of Isa from Dora. sorry.
This.
Why would you pronounce it Ees-la when the correct pronunciation is eye-la? Ees-la is not pretty at all.
And they are way too close IMO.
Hmmm. I posted her because I was worried the nanes were too matchy and clearly there is a consesnus. We have some more thinking to do.
I'm struck that people think of Miley Cyrus - never came to mind - and not the two actresses we took the name from.
I butchered them too...sorry. I love Alice. Just a thought...if you like Mila...how about Amelia and call her Mila.
I personally would do:
Alice Isla
Amelia Spicer
Isla Alice:
The "a" sounds at the end of Isla and at the beginning of Alice run together, and therefore sound funny and are a bit hard to say.
