Looking for Doctor in SLC area

Hi,

I'm looking for a doctor in the SLC area. I'm about 6 weeks pregnant and I don't know where to go. My fience and I are getting married in February so I need a doctor that will take my mom's insurance and then his later on. I have RM insurance and he has SLC Med Plus. If anyone has any suggestions that would be wonderful.

    Where in SLC do you live? It's a big valley and you'll want something close.

    I'm going in 3 weeks to a new Dr.  Referred by a friend, it's at the Jordan Valley Women's Center, Dr Barney.  Don't have personal experience yet.  My regular OB won't prescribe fertility drugs, Barney will take you all the way through insemination before referring to a IVF clinic.

    Did you find one yet?  First, get a list from your insurance companies to make sure you're covered.  I really like my doc, Layne Smith, MD, in Sandy.  He delivers at Alta View and at Jordan Valley.  He's my first male OBGYN and has made me really comfortable.  There are some really good physicians at the University, but realize you may have a lot of med students, nursing students, and medical residents, etc.  "observing." I believe the new IMC in Murray, may also have students.  Some people don't like that.  You're doing the right thing- ask around.  Good Luck!

    It all depends on your insurance of course what hospital you will go to and which dr you will see but if you have her as a choice Dr. Melissa A Brown at IMC is amazing. Her office is in the womans center there so when there is a baby to catch she runs down to the lower floor and does her magic and goes back to seeing patients. She is so understanding and willing to go with you on what ever type of birth you want (with in reason) I would highly reccomend her. Everyone that sees her never wants to leave! I could go on and on. but check her out for your self, she fills up quick so make an appt early to meet with her.
