Name spelling Poll- Clicky

I'm still trying to figure out a name for DD#2.  This is our front runner, Jaime/Jamie.  How should we spell it?  Keep in mind, the baby name book said that Jaime is French and means "I Love".  Jamie is a version of the name James.

  • I have a female friend with this name and she spells it Jaime - that's how I voted. Though I think for the most part the general consensus is girl=Jamie; boy=Jaime. But I like the Jai way no matter what.

  • I voted #1 bc that's how my name starts, but add an extra e with an accent egu to make it feminine :)

  • I always assume Jaime is a girl, and Jamie is a boy. I guess because I knew several growing up, and all the girls spelled it the first way, while all the boys spelled it the second way. I think because Jamie is often a nickname for James, whereas Jaime sort of stands on its own.

    Love the French meaning, too!

  • #1! Jaime is really nice, I love the meaning too.

fwiw, a little girl in our Mom's group is Jameson and they call her Jami. I think that's really cute too.

  • When I see "Jaime," I always hear it as "hi-may" with a Spanish h-sounding J for some reason.  Too many foreign films.

So, for that reason alone, I prefer Jamie.

Oooh, I like Jami... I forgot I know a girl who spells it that way, too.

  • how are you pronouncing it?

    if it's Jay-mee - Jamie

when i see Jaime, i think Hi-meh since is a spanish name.

eta:  i'm mexican and from new mexico so i know a lot of Jaimes and they are all Hi-meys in pronunciation.

See, this is why I posted this question.

We would pronounce it Jay-mee.  I'm like pp and think that Jaime would be for a girl and Jamie would be for a boy.

Fab- I LOVE Jameson.  But not sure that would flow with my last name.  WDYT???
