registering on amazon.com

Is this weird?

Most of the more expensive items are so much cheaper on amazon (swing, pack n play) I'm talking $50+ cheaper than Babies R Us.

Our family who would probably purchase these things are internet savvy.

I've never seen anyone with a baby registry on amazon.

  • amazon is typically cheaper...I also registered on there...not sure how many will buy off of it
  • We registered there after hearing lots of great things from everyone.  Most of our family who will purchase the bigger items lives out of state anyway, so getting the free shipping is a huge bonus for them. And they are all internet savvy
  • I registered for most things at BRU b/c I'm sure most people I know will want to go to the store to pick things out.  I did also register at Amazon for things that BRU doesn't carry (the nice baby carriers, decent nursing cover, ect.).

  • Amazon has free super saver shipping on lots of items above $25, and it is more affordable than many other specialty stores. I'm using Registry.com right now where I can add things from any website I want, lots of it is Amazon so far. I heard on Amazon registries you can add things from other websites as well. The only concern is having to ship back items you want to return, which can be somewhat of a hassle.

  • I have one for the very reasons you stated, the swing I want is literally $50 less on Amazon than at BRU.  I don't have a ton of stuff on there yet but I could definitely see family from out of state using this option.

  • We created an Amazon registry with our first and still are able to use it for B-day/Christmas suggestions 17 mo later.  Amazon's system was easier to use to register (now you can do a "universal" register from any website so it's even easier), and the items that were gifts automatically listed the gift-giver's address/what they bought so that thank you notes were easier to write.  We never had to return anything off the registry, so I don't have experience with that.  Overall, most of our OOT family ordered from Amazon.
