Working moms, help!

I have my review in 15 minutes. It has been announced that I am changing from hourly to salaried/professional management in my position, which looks great on a resume, but cuts my OT off at the knees. I don't know if they are proposing a new pay scale now that i am management. If they don't should I ask for one??? Or just be grateful I have  job in this economy?

Help!

  • If you think your review will be good definitely ask. I was also promoted and just got a 15% raise.  If OT was a big part of your salary before they need to compensate for that, either with more money or flex time, etc.

  • I would for sure ask.  Are you increasing your responisibilites?  The worst they can do is say no, and if you dont ask they may not offer.
  • I would ask for one if they don't propose an increase.  If they don't propose one, they know they're ultimately decreasing your earnings.  They obviously like you, so I would definitely ask...worse that can happen is they say no.

Yes, I would ask.  I think it's reasonable to request that your income at least not drop because of what is supposed to be a promotion.  You can be grateful for your job and still try to negotiate for a good salary.  Good luck!

  • definitely ask

  • I agree with the pp.  Ask, and good luck!
  • Ask- a review is a two way conversation.  I bet they offer anyway, but if they don't- ask for sure!
  • Definitely ask!  For all the reasons pp said. GL!
