To conceive multiples your H needs to blow it up you a$$ then you shove the yam in there to make sure none of his love juice falls out. Keep it there for 37min exactly then roast in the oven for exactly 23min at 350 and eat. Guaranteed to work every time.
well I was being serious, I just wanted to know if any one had tried and ended up with twins. I would love to have twins (dont know why, just always thought it would be a blessing)
I read that if you eat lots of yams it makes the hormone that makes you ovulate go up, and you are more likely to release 2 eggs.
SO im sorry if I offended anyone, it wasnt meant to be a punching bag

The yams thing? I can't even imagine what this is.
There is a special kind of yam, found only in AFRICA (so no, not your typical Thanksgiving day yam) that has been show to possibly increase the rate of fraternal twins over there.
In AFRICA? Man I used 4 Thanksgiving day yams hoping for quads. No wonder I only wound up with twins. Geez.
I am sorry for the crazy response, you caught me at a bad time. I did not realize you had a recent loss. That being said I cannot stand when people ask how to have multiples. Read this board a bit and see that it is not it is all it is cracked up to be. I had the easiest pregnancy ever and delivered at 38wks. Going through it I thought this is no big deal. Now that I am part of a fabulous group of MoMs I can see that I was such the minority and that I am beyond lucky to have had the experience I had. So many things could have gone wrong. Multiples happen, it is nature, but wishing for them without even knowing what you are really getting yourself into is something completely different. Good luck with any future pregnancies.
I'm sorry for your recent loss. Any baby is a blessing; I'm not sure why people think of twins as more of a blessing than two singletons though. (I'm honestly curious about that; I just don't get it.) Because of the risks involved in a multiples pregnancy for both the babies and the mom (not to mention the intense stress of caring for two newborns at once, even if they're both healthy and full-term), I really don't recommend trying for multiples.
Having multiples is a blessing and a curse. I never wanted them and still don't really. :P I do have to say that folic acid makes sperm stronger, and we did it reverse cowgirl when we got KU with the quads. So GL!

Your first mistake was not doing any research. Research on the type of yams that this involves. As I said in a previous reply, the yams associated with this increase chance for fraternal twins are found in Africa. They aren't the kind you're thinking of that Americans eat. Second, you didn't research the risks associated with a twin pg. On this board, we don't take "trying for multiples" lightly because we all know the risks involved and many women here have had tough battles with their LOs because they were born early.
I'm sure you meant well, but you really need to do some more research.

OP: I also am sorry for your loss. I understand that pain. Make sure you take time for yourself to emotionally heal and make sure you are really really ready before you TTC. 2 babies does not fix the loss of 1.
No yams here, but I did see something about it on TLC. It was one of the questoins that it gives the answer after commercials and I was shocked it was true.
A few months ago, I watched some TV special about twins and they mentioned that yams/sweet potatoes increase the likelihood of releasing 2 eggs during a cycle. I did not question or research the statement, but I did wonder if eating them had any influence on my twin conception. I never ate them until after DS was born, and he loves them, so we eat them more frequently now.
That being said, I am over 30 and both of my grandmothers had a set of fraternal twin sibs.
I'm sorry for your loss recently. I've had two myself and after the second one, I also wanted twins. Somehow, it seemed conforting - almost like the babies I lost would come back to me, together in a new pregnancy. I also felt like I could "catch up" to all of our friends who had 2 pregnancies in the time we were TTC and miscarrying. So I understand your feelings. But in hindsight I can see that I was being irrational and in time, you will too.
So, I did the yams thing. I even found an African grocery that carried the right yams from Ghana. I did the soy isoflavone thing. I did the sunlight thing. All the things you read on the internet to up your chances of twins, I did. And guess what happened!.............Nothing.
I stopped conceiving at all. After months of disappointment I realized that I would be happy with "just" one baby and I stopped doing all of that. And still nothing. A year went by. Suddenly I realized that I had lost sight of what was really important - one healthy child.
In the end we had to resort to clomid (which, by the way, did not get me pregnant, with twins or otherwise) and then we did IVF, twice. I am now pregnant, ironically, with twins, but not because we tried to have them. These twins are boys, not the two girls I lost. So after all this, I've learned that this pregnancy does not "make up" for what I lost - it is something separate from my previous pregnancies and I still grieve the losses that we had, even now. Nothing will make up for them.
If you read this far down, I hope you see that nothing is as straightforward as it seems. You can't predict or manipulate the future. Just concentrate on healing and recovering, don't lose hope, and what is meant to happen will happen. Good luck to you!

Re: silly question....
Oh yes, I rubbed Yams all over my body and made sure DH had some on his jewels before we did the deed.
bahahahaha
OP: No.
I can't decide whether to go sarcastic or sincere for my reply.
Hmmm.
How to tell my boys apart

Um, yeah. But you know it isn't going to work unless you get the yams from Africa, right? This is where we ordered from:

Aubrey & Anthony
The yams thing? I can't even imagine what this is.
And why are people going out of their way to conceive multiples?

Tee hee hee!
OMG ROTFLMAO!!!
OP: I am sorry for your loss. No yams used here.
BUT, I must say it has been a while since I've seen the snarky side of the Multiples and it made me giggle. ;-)
this
Wow, this actually made me giggle like a school girl while shaking my head wonder "WTF" all at the same time. Well done!
YAMS! hahahhahahahhah!

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
