Adoption

Birth mother gift??

I'd like to take our birth mom a gift when we travel to get the baby. We have to travel across the country so I'd like something small that would be easy to pack.  This is her 4th child, 2 others she has placed for adoption and one child she is still parenting.  When we've talked to her on the phone she doesn't seem the sentimental type - not sure how better to say that. She seems like a very practical person. I'm not sure if she would apperciate something like a necklace with the baby's birthstone or if she would rather have something more practical - but I can't think of what that might be.

Thanks for any ideas!

Re: Birth mother gift??

  • A spa gift certificate? Is it possible to find a spa close to her and have them mail you a certificate or pick one up there?

  • Loading the player...
  • Since you are trying to go practical, I'd say either restaurant gift cards or maybe meals or a gift cards to a make and take place so that she can use these when she goes home after the delivery.

Possibly a pretty photo album or frame also?

  • We have bought and are planning on giving one of these: https://stampmyfeet.com/  And also we have a prayer shawl from our church that our knitting ladies made.  Maybe when we have a match and a placement, these gifts will seem silly or I will have a better idea, but for now this is what we have prepared.
